Why is this the slowest site on the planet?

I visit other forums frequently. At least one of which is the exact same platform as this and it has zero lag or delay. This site lag is highly annoying. Is it possibly the amount of advertising that is crammed on to these pages? I'm really curious.

Adblock does wonders. I hate to use it, but this site is unusable without it. 😕

I use adblocker on every site... Ironically, I was just on photobucket and apparently, they changed it to where it doesn't work with the adblocker. They now want you to pay 9.99 a year to be ad free...

Go figure...

Adblock seemed to make pages load slower for me. I finally took it off. This site is slower loading a page than most that I visit.

I am thinking it is because the twins have become so popular and are generating so much interest that this forum is experiencing heavy volume. It is obvious from the sheer number of "guests" that are browsing the site for as much information as they can to convince them that these trucks are the real, superior choice...

Try Ghostery. Blocks all trackers...i have it installed on every browser. Google and Amazon have no clue what to present to me now...I love it!

You can disable Java Scripts on your phone browser and the site flies if you want to browse and the adds disapears. To post some needs to be enable. Most of the problem is the pesky Java Scripts.

I wonder how much traffic comes through the site a day? If you google anything canyon or Colorado, this is really the only specific 2nd gen forum around. Some gm or Chevy forums seem to have a small forgotten canyon Colorado section, but this is probably the only large active forum so I bet it gets quite a bit a transient visitors

on chrome with ad block and sometimes its okay, but 90% of the time if i try to open more than one thread in a tab the whole thing freezes for a minute or two, very frustrating to browse.

Lots of ways this can cause site slowness, ill see if I can give you guys a "boost" so to speak when surfing the web. Shockwave is usually a pretty big factor in this, along with outdated browsers, flash, java, and not having enough processing power on whatever device you are accessing the board with.

Below are common fixes to fix this. video ad's can be turned to "click to play" instead of autplaying. and a few other fixes can be applied as well to streamline your browser experience. If it is still an issue, it could be a rogue Ad with bad stuff attached potentially.

keep in mind a number of things can cause this, not just the back end. but could be extensions, plugins, malware, etc.
here is the more common fixes for this:

- shockwave being unstable. disabling or deleting this could help
- updating your flash and java to the lastest update
- any rogue extensions that "auto installed" on your browser without you knowing.
- malware or spyware has piggybacked your browser
- hardware acceleration could be incompatible with your system in general.
- Rogue Ad causing the issue as well.
- Cookies and cache are outdated and need to be cleaned
- temporary internet files on your back end are flooding and fighting for use. doing a disk clean up could help as well.

let me know if these suggestions help.

Wow, thanks for the ghostery tip. I pretty much abandoned this site because it took forever to load. After installing ghostery the site works great. Thanks!!!
