Pop Ups

Really getting a lot of pop ups this morning, mostly related to my flash player being out of date. Any recommendation or is it just a temporary thing?

I was expecting a thread on campers.

I haven't had an issue with popups on my computer, but every once and a while, I get hijacked to some thread, usually telling me my system has been infected. Get it on my phone and my computer.

The interesting thing to me is that I don't get this on any other website I visit - just this one. I tend to think it is the website and not my computer/phone because of that.

I have run scans from ESET and Malwarebytes, my computer is supposedly clean. Yet I continue to see these random hijacks where suddenly some other website pops up. In the beginning, they had a theme of your computer is infected, now they seem to be more random useless websites.

I've never come across any pop ups on my PC. I have come across some issues on my phone but that's mainly through Facebook crap. And those seem to affect random sites I'm on.

Maybe one of the VS staff can assist further.

In order to help any gurus who know what they are doing, as opposed to me, I am running Chrome browser, WIndows 7 Professional on a Dell computer. Only see the problem with this website.

You either have malware on your machine and/or you need to install ad block

Run Malwarebytes and get rid of everything it suggests you get rid of
https://www.malwarebytes.com/

and install ad block for your browser
https://adblockplus.org/

I have adblock and wont use the web without it these days. You can have it count the ads it blocks and thats usually about 30-40 ads per page for most sites.

Malwarebytes says I am clean. I only have the issue with this website.

Solution may be to avoid this website.

I am going to try to run this on Internet Explorer tomorrow perhaps and see if problem is eliminated.

On my Windows machines, I run Chrome with the Ghostery tracker blocking browser add on from the Chrome store. I don't see a single ad, and pages load quick. They also have the Ghostery app in the Play store. This site loads about 28 trackers every page load.

Thanks man, I think you have it fixed, nothing as of yet. I downloaded it, now I don't see any sign of it being on my computer, but it has stopped it. Did you say it can show how many popups have been blocked? I see no controls for it or anything.

It should show you a stop sign type icon somewhere in your browser. Depending on your browser it will be in different places.

IE it's in the bottom - you will need the "status bar" turned on to see it but it will not show you the ads blocked count.

Chrome or Edge it will be in the top right corner and will count for you if you want it too.

Click its icon to see what settings/options are offered for whatever you are using

Hey guys

Looks like we are getting some attempted malware piggy-backing in from the ad rotation. Or at least that's the educated guess. Saw a lot of this over the weekend, probably because whoever did it new lots of places had a long weekend.

I've sent the links provided along to be blocked. If you get anymore send them our way and we'll keep blocking them. Will be a game of whackamole till we get every one that snuck into the rotation.

Had a couple yesterday, but then they quit. The last time it was much worse.

As Kevin mentioned, if at any point you come across these annoying pop ups/page redirects, please grab the source address (if you don't want to click on the pop ups, you can simply right click on it and select "Copy image address"; or copy/paste the URL if the page redirects you) and screenshots, as well as the link to the section/thread that it occurs on. The more details you can provide, the better we can assist and get these removed from the source at once.

Thanks for your patience and cooperation.

Cheers,
Natalie :)
