First off, to post a picture you need to have it uploaded on the web at some sort of site that allows picture linking on other sites.
Secondly, the image must end in a valid extension (.gif or .jpg for your avatar).
UPLOADING TO COLORADOFANS
To upload an image to the Coloradofans public or personal gallery, scroll down to the botom of the main index page. Click on the appropriate link where you intend on uploading your pics to. For your personal gallery, scroll down to where it says Your Personal Gallery
and click on that link.
You'll see an
link that will take you to the control panel for uploading an image. Only .jpg format images are allowed for any Coloradofans Gallery image, and they must be uploaded from your personal computer. The images must be within the limits specified (width=1280 pixels, height=1280 pixels), so you must resize each image to meet the requirements.
First you must go into your Profile
which is located at the top of the page in the orange banner. Once inside, scroll down to the Avatar Control Panel
. Next, you can either select an avatar from the gallery by clicking on the Show Gallery
link, link to an offsite image, or by uploading an image to this site. Uploaded avatars from your personal PC must be in .jpg format, while avatars uploaded from another site may be in .gif format as well, and are limited to a width of 160 pixels and a height of 100 pixels, and must be no larger than 49Kb in file size, so it is recommended that you resize your picture beforehand. Off-site linked images have no specific size requirements, but it is recommended you be respectful and not go much larger than the 160x100 pixel limit, as it will actually be full size and will take a person on dial up a long time to download.
IMAGES IN POSTS
To post an image in a post you must have it upladed to a hosting site and just copy the URL of the image. Any image's URL will always end with .gif or .JPG for example. When you reply to the post click on the "IMG" button and paste the URL. The code that appears is...
When posting an image that is located in a Coloradofans.com public or personal gallery, the process is slightly different. Your "[img]" tag changes to [siteimg]. Your image URL has also changed, not ending with .jpg or .gif, but ending with an image number designated by the site when uploading. An example is as followed...
To post from this site's gallery, the entire URL is not required, but rather the individual image number.
So instead of this...
...the image will be posted like this...
eliminating the entire URL except for the image umber.
To access your signature, click on the Profile
link in the orange banner at the top of the page, and scroll down to the Profile Information
section. Images in your signature are uploaded in the same manner as posting an image in a thread.
Signature images have no specific size requirement, but we ask that you be respectful and no use a large image. Keep in mind that your signature has a limit to 300 characters, so using an image link will count towards that limit.
Hopefully this answers all general picture posting questions.
