A comment like this sounds like someone that hasn't driven a modern TDI. I would much rather have the diesel when passing cars. Push down the pedal and fly by the car without reving 5000 rpm's.Only time the V6 may seem to have a slight advantage is going to be driving down the road and 60 MPH, the significantly higher HP rating of the V6 might let you pass another vehicle with a little more comfort.
So, while we can’t let you know what we think of or even what we saw, noted, heard, smelled, etc., while driving the breakthrough rigs, we do have a green light from GM for giving you more details on their newest diesel-burning powerplant; the Thailand-built, 181hp/369–lb-ft (unofficial crankshaft power/torque estimate) 2.8L Duramax I-4, and the Hydra-Matic 6L50 six-speed automatic transmission (of six-cylinder Camaro fame) it’s mated with. The powertrain was first previewed in the Chevy Colorado ZR2 Concept from the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The 2017 MY should see the newer V6 engine, the LGX. And it's safe to assume that the entire line up will see 8 speed transmissions. But you know, even that might not happen.Looking at the 2016 GM fleet catalog it lists max towing across the board for the colorado/canyon as 7,000 lbs. They also mention spotter mirrors in both the left and right side mirrors.
The 5.3 is getting the 8 speed in the 1500's for LTZ and High Country for 2016 too.

The filler neck is adjacent to the gasoline port on the driver’s side of the truck, but the fluid will need topping off every 7,500 miles (12,070 km), aligning with routine intervals for oil changes.
Also unique with the 2.8L is a new charge-air cooler and an electro-viscous cooling fan that is mounted to the engine, accessory-driven and will shut off when not needed.
That sucks.Yes, all this info is decidedly this gen. He's referencing an article speaking specifically to the 2.8. Please at least attempt to read the info provided.

I sure hope the rumors of Diesel-CC-SB-Only are just that.sorry if this has been posted already, just saw it - http://www.autonews.com/article/201...3/colorado-canyon-target-best-marketing-claim
tl;dr - the Duramax Diesel trucks will get more than 30 MPG, meaning that GM can lay claim to 'best MPG of any truck' - one test run cleared 37 MPG.
