New here, but I've been watching this forum for a while now, mostly to see if others are experiencing the same issues that I have been with my 2015 GMC Canyon. I thought it was worth a shot to report what's going on in hopes of getting feedback from some of you on your experiences.
I've had the vehicle to a dealer four times now for various issues (most that have not been resolved), and I only have 5,800 KM on the truck.
Here's the list of things I've dealt with or am dealing with:
- Transmission: Vehicle felt like it wouldn't go anywhere when hitting the gas and would actually shudder at low speeds --> the dealer ended up finding multiple stroked valves and a badly stroked valve on clutch boost - all were replaced after parts were flown in. Totally unexpected at 5,800km, but vehicle is performing much better now.
- Steering: Steering wheel 'floats' above 60km/h. You can actually see it move left and right almost as if it's loose - worse when going around corners. Three wheel balances (including road force), a tire rotation, tire inspection and steering re-calibration - problem persists.
- Acceleration Rattle: As you accelerate, there is a metal chattering or rattle noise that comes from under the truck. The dealer was able to reproduce the problem, but cannot pinpoint it. It's actually embarrassing when you're driving around town and people hear that coming from a brand new vehicle.
- Exterior: Chrome covering on lower front bumper plate began to bubble --> replaced by dealer
- Brakes: Squealing brakes at low speeds just before a stop --> went away after the brake caliper recall was performed, but has since returned. Almost embarrassing on a brand new vehicle.
The dealer that I've been working with on these problems has been nothing short of fantastic. I really don't blame them for having to track down these issues - this is on GM. I'm just really disappointed with the initial quality of this vehicle. I'm also experiencing the steering wheel airbag cover rattle, plus other dash rattles that I can't find. These are all in addition to the four recalls that I've had performed on the truck.
I'm hoping that others may have experienced some of the above issues and have found a fix - please share if you have!
The model is an SLT Short Box Crew Cab, V6, 4WD.
