Maybe they got the wrong badge during assembly of your truck.

All the press trucks and a couple I just searched for on dealer websites have the Z71 with the off road in the tail badge.

Random example pulled from ebay:
2017 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Crew Cab 4wd Midnight Edition

Random dealer listing:
Vehicle Inventory: New Black 2017 Chevrolet Colorado stk# 171105 | Serpentini Chevrolet

2015 Z71 2WD Crew Cab Long Bed Cyber Grey Metallic

Ready Lift 2.0 leveling kit, OEM Fender Flares, WeatherTech Mudflaps, Morimoto HID Kit, K&N 63 Series intake, JBA Catback Exhaust, Rough Country Hidden Bumper Mounts and 30" Light Bar, 17" Black Rhino Tanay wheels, Goodyear Duratracs, Go Rhino Sport Bar 2.0

does anyone know what the small box compartment is supposed to be used for? I'm referring to compartment between the seat warmer buttons. Currently it only seems to hold my dip so am kinda curious if thats its intended purpose.

I use mine to collect dust and rest my fingers on, lol. In all seriousness, it's answered somewhere. I'm not 100%, but I think it holds a small amount of change, or a gas card.

After I get to 30-36k miles it will be for a DSP4 switch and a custom filler plate.
