I don't understand people

So, just now a guy opens his door into my brand new Colorado right in front of me and I say "oh no, I just bought it.'
Him: "I'm sorry."
Me (looking closer and seeing the damage): "Have a care what you are doing - you chipped the paint!"
Him (puffing up and stepping into me like he wants to fight): "I SAID I WAS SORRY!"

I don't know about anyone else but I am always careful around other people's stuff. But if I ever temporarily lost it and damaged someone else's ride, the only thing I would say is "I will make this right - how do you want to proceed?" But not this guy. No, he wants to fight me in the Costco parking lot because I had the nerve not to let it go with an "I'm sorry". It's not like I insulted him or even used harsh language.

It was bound to happen sooner or later so I shouldn't care I guess. I just wish people would be accountable for their actions.

Wow that really blows. Unfortunately degenerates like that are a part of life. If it were me I would've "accidentally" let my utility knife come out of my pocket and drag against his door, but that's just me. Probably not the most mature thing to do, but it makes me feel better ;)

No I turned around and walked into the store before things got out of hand. At that point it was the best outcome as far as I'm concerned.

And this boys & girls, is why God doesn't let us have rocket launchers in our front grill. I'd have blasted him to kingdom come, then said "oh, I'm sorry"

Ohhh, I think you understand them just right......

Luckily, he paid you exactly what you need to replace it. Found this on ebay:

Get his insurance info, ill felt apologies are a dime a dozen now a days.

That is why I park at the back of the parking lot away from other cars to avoid I'm sorry" Folks are just careless and I don't have time for careless.

Unfortunately, it never fails, no matter how far away I park, there is ALWAYS someone parked right beside me when I come back out.

I always park out in the open, well away from the crowd. no idiot dings. Less of a chance of things coming up missing from the truck that way as well.

Many yrs ago I purchased my first new car, 1969 vw Beetle.
I was in the junior yr of college. I drove it to school the next
day and parked in a remote parking lot of the school well away
from any other cars. When I returned from class there was only
two vechicles in the lot, mine and a 1964 chevy impala four door.
Guess where it was parked? Very close to the Beetle. Close
examination revealed that they had opened both doors on the
passenger side and dented the front and back fenders of my new
car, had to be done on purpose. Big mistake not moving away.
I was assistant manager at a gas station and always had a schrader
valve tool in my pocket. I removed all four valves. The impala
didn't move for weeks after.

Simple answer to that. Call the cops! He will have to pay. I just did it with my truck. I was stopped at a light and some woman bounced off my rear. It's simple with those asshole tough guys, call the cops. They shut up real fast. (When I was younger and even more stupid than I am now, I would fight them. Just stupid and I would get arrested too.) If he was nice and said he would pay for his mistake, I probably would have said don't worry about a little ding in my handle. It's plastic and isn't going to rust. But, if he got in my face... Fuck him, call the cops. When he comes out from shopping he would be surprised. Good luck with the touch up. Just a little flesh wound, lol.

After two years I still park my Colorado as far from entrances as possible. I still don't have a dent. The only damage I have to my paint is from road debri. People think I'm insane but it's the best way to prevent door dings. Car care is a different level of priority of different people. I've found that most people are down right ignorant about car care and maintenance. I don't chance it. I park far away. And whenever I park next to another vehicle, I make ABSOLUTELY SURE, that my kids are careful when they open our car door.

"non-carry state", "call the cops", blah blah blah.

DrGonzo aint asking yall how to go about fixin this. so no need for all antagonization and aggression with the coulda, woulda, shoulda's.

He's just lookin to vent and some consolation from other "family" that appreciates their trucks to help him get over it yall. I'm sure he handled it the best way for him.
