16 you get crappy shifting that you either have to run a tune or run in tow/haul to make better.
17 may have better shifting (don't know yet) but you'll have AFM so either have to run a tune or run in M5 to turn it off.

DrewNJ: i'm am definitely feeling ya bro, I was all in on a 2017 until talking with a friend at work (a real truck guy), and he said he would risk the shifting issue over AFM. So now back to square 1, the only difference on the AT models are AFM, 8 speed, and tires as far as i can tell.

The sticker on my 2016 AT Canyon was 39424.00 and with some rebates other incentives I basically took enough off the sticker to bring it to 36500. or there abouts. A lot of money for sure but I really like this truck, it is a Cardinal Red crew cab with 6' bed, 4 wheel drive and pretty much loaded. I am finding that the more I drive the truck the better the transmission is shifting, it is learning my driving habits. My truck was built in Aug of 16 so far the only thing I had was the squeak in the interior that was the headliner not snapped into place near the backseat dome light, I snapped in place, squeak gone. I saw the truck and knew I had to have it. I was going to order a 2017 and thought if I could find what I wanted in the 2016 I would buy and I am glad I did, with 2017's you may not have many if any incentives and you will have a price increase over last year so those are things that helped me with my decision on my purchase. My only advice is don't settle, get what you want since this will be a big purchase and I almost settled on a Z-71 Colorado which had the equipment I wanted but I just couldn't do the color combo so I stepped away, that truck was still on the lot. My truck hit the GMC lot just 2 days before I bought it on 9/26.

Nice color by the way. Same as mine. Red Hot Chevy Colorado. And I have nothing wrong with my trans. It's a truck so step on the gas if you want it to go. My trans learned from day one that I was in control. I'm glad your squeak went away. So did mine. I'm so happy someone posted about the headliner.

Chetter: Thanks for the info 3K off, I'm going to head to the dealer next month they have the 2016 i want but said i could only get the 750 off right now. I am torn between the 8 speed trans and the AFM in the 2017 so we will see.

It seems like the auto makers add a gear or two every couple of years and what I have seen over the past, is that the transmissions get more complex and it seems like you see more problems and complaints with the added gears. IMO, let me have a 4 speed Auto back. They seem to me that they are adding more gears in the top end (overdrive) range strictly for fuel mileage and they are causing a lot of problems for the OWNER to live with.

I was quoted around $32k for a crew cab z71 v6 4x4. Has anyone seen a steal of a price yet and if so, how much was it for this same model? Im just trying to calibrate if this is a good deal or not. TY.

That is a great price. I recently bought and the best I could do was 34K for the same truck. Could be because I live in an area where trucks are in high demand and the fact that I took the 0% financing. I would say go for it, unless you think you can get that down even more. Good luck with your shopping.

I think they will make one for the GM/Chevy soon after they are released with it.

I have friends with this device in their Jeep GCs.....works exactly as advertised.

I saw a pic in another thread about the V6 emblem on the tailgate. Saw a new 2017 Z71 on the local dealers lot and yes it does have it:

Ordered 2/17/17.

Can't wait to get my V6 emblem. So worth the wait...LOL. Really I'm hoping the 8 speed transmission was worth the wait.

I'm thinking about ordering a 2017 V6 Z71. I like the idea of the 8 speed transmission in this truck and the new 3.6L, plus around here it seems like the remaining 2016 models are all priced too high and that is because dealers around here (most places really) always order these trucks fully loaded and in 4wd.

I don't need 4wd, a 2wd with locking rear is all I need. The one I want built has an MSRP of $31,855 (A8 V6 extended cab 2wd Z71w/bose speakers and black bowties) on Chevy's website. I debated on a WT Custom but the z71 2wd has more features for not much more $$.
