say what? this is horrible news, if true.

In terms of fuel economy, the Colorado Z71 Diesel 4WD is able to return about 17mpg city and 24mpg highway. Well, this is quite decent considering the amount of power one will be getting with the diesel unit. The Extended Cab trim is still able to offer better economy.
Would not get a diesel for this crappy mpg.

Hopefully, this article is written by a 2nd grade writing class.

If you see the other posts, they are getting 28-29 mpg in city traffic...32-35mpg in highway.... There is one reporting close to 40mpg driving like an old lady.... And some reporting getting 20 mpg while towing...

Drive safe!

This is just poor research by whoever posted this article, they just Google "Chevy Colorado diesel mpg" and those MPG numbers will come up.

They also called it turbocharged V6 diesel........so they must have used the V6 mpg rating......

At least they got the turbocharged part right, Think I found the original article and appears they did misquote the V6 numbers.

GM's (GM) New Diesel Engine Enters the Fray Amid Broad Public Censure for VW - TheStreet

Seems to address some of the concerns about the VW issue. Also, read the paragraph about if you let the DEF tank go dry.

The Canyon's turbodiesel -- which averaged just less than 33 miles per gallon of diesel fuel during a trip along the Hudson River from Manhattan to Duchess County -- is just such an alternative.
Impressive. Not a huge mountainous area but it is not the plains of Nebraska either. Thats pretty decent mileage.

In case an owner is delinquent about refilling Canyon's urea reservoir, a dashboard display will flash a warning. Then the vehicle's speed will be progressively limited until it's not driveable.
ops. That is pinning the stupid meter. WHat if you are 100 miles from getting urea? It does not spell it out, that it stops quickly but the way it is written would lead you to believe it will happen fast. I will always have a extra jug of urea in the bed. Yikes, I am now forced to carry around a jug of piss like some crazy person...quick, someone tell me what the MPG's are again!!!

The Fast Lane Truck people put this one out. Honestly, this is the first review in which they let you hear the clatter of the engine. That sound is growing on me, I'm getting excited!

Thumbs up

Thanks for posting up links to all these unbiased reviews. I'll stay grounded with my enthusiasm until I see the actual numbers on the sticker in the truck window. I appreciate everyone's opinions and please keep us informed with more videos as they arrive...

A pretty nice Edmunds article today with lots of tidbits... A few items of note that stuck out to me:

Quote:
GM has no plans to offer diesel-powered extended-cab models, but may change course if its sees enough demand for it.
Quote:
A welcome side effect of the broad torque delivery on tap is a reduction of the irksome transmission hunting that we've observed in our V6-powered long-term Colorado . Motoring in the diesel just feels breezier.
Quote:
Based on hints from GM and our drive, we are confident that the Duramax's combined mpg will be comfortably in the mid-20s and its highway rating will surpass 30 mpg.

Auto's 0-60 review and interview with an engineer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4ZItCcpRHU

I did notice that the engineer slipped up a bit and stated that it has a 21 gallon tank, and "yet not uncommon to get 600 miles" on a full tank. That is a milage of 28.6 miles per gallon of Diesel. Anyone else catch that little bit of information?

I'm really not trying to be 'that guy' but we're trying to keep this thread to links and let the discussions fall in the several diesel discussion threads.
The idea is a one-stop shopping location for reviews.

Thanks.
