Gee thanks, that was really helpful. But thanks to Thor18 it has been confirmed, it is indeed Brownstone.
I must be going blind... It looks nothing like the brownstone at my dealers .. Gah lol

Your truck is looking very good. I'm liking the Brownstone color. Nice job!

Would love to see a picture of the truck at your dealer. Then we can determine if you are truly going blind or if my truck is unique.

Think I may have figured it out. The color I was told is "the same as the brownstone" is a brown on a GMC sierra. I'm guessing its not the same.. I just did a Build a Truck for a sierra and its brown looks .. Darker I think???

All I know is i like the color of your truck but the previously identified Brownstone made me not buy that color...

Ignore the dumbass, thanks

Is anyone working on a cap that matches slope of the roofline? It would look good, and I could live with the slight height reduction at the back.

Well, crap-I wanted to get a wedge profile cap like the LEER 122 for my Canyon (for the cargo and head clearance) but I don't think it'll fit through my garage door. I'm now thinking about one of the slightly-higher than cab high models like the LEER 180 series, but even that might be close, since the truck has so much rake. (the top of the bed sides are 3" higher at the tailgate than right behind the cab!) Sure wish I could lower the back of this thing a bit. Maybe the weight of the cap will settle the back enough to give me an inch or so more clearance.

Don't forget that often garage doors are not set to their maximum opening, I was able to gain a good 4 inches clearance on mine due to that, just something to consider,

Thanks for the suggestion, but my garage door is at the same height as the lintel when it's up so it's about maxed out for clearance.

It's a good looking cap--I need more clearance, though, so gotta get a taller one. I actually like the looks of slight rise caps like the 180 better than that of the wedge shaped ones, so this may work out for the best.

To me, as someone who uses their bed daily, this is the only solution that makes sense as I need security and weather protection but at least 2x per week carry something that needs an open bed just to fit. Otherwise, why not just buy an SUV if you don't require an open bed? It also looks pretty good and has fantastic reviews.

I'm asking any guys that would seriously consider this product to call this guy and request that he produces a unit for the new Twins.

Thanks!
Very cool! I was going to forgo a cap on this truck despite the things I liked about them, this is a good option, thanks for posting that. It would be nice to see one in person, maybe I can find a local dealer with one installed.

Well, ordered my cap yesterday! I went with an A.R.E. MX series--the ones that are 4-5" higher than cab high.

MX Series Truck Caps : A.R.E. Truck Caps and Tonneau Covers

They're in the final fit-tweaking stage and I should have it by the end of February.

I was going to get one of the wedge shaped TW models to maximize cargo and head clearance, but once I did some measuring, I realized it would probably be too high to fit through my garage door. Just as well--the MX should give me enough room and I like the looks of it better than the wedge-shaped caps anyway.

I had the MX on my last truck, a 2008 Colorado, so I have a pretty good idea of how it will look and function. I added a couple of options that weren't on my old cap--the flush/frameless side glass and a hinged front window for easy cleaning. And since the new truck's bed sided are 2-3" taller than the old one I should still have a bit more clearance than I used to...

Just a comparison shot of the two Leer Shells avaiable at this time.

Thor18 and others. I read through the thread and I didn't see any prices. What can I expect to pay for a decent cap for a 2015 short bed here in the midwest?

I got a few prices for my Colorado z71 crew cab long bed.
Leer 100r was $1420 plus tax installed.
A.R.E CX series was $1335 plus tax installed and I get $75 off that with a coupon I printed out from A.R.E. if I chose.
A.R.E. V series was $1175 plus tax installed and the same $75 additional off coupon is available. Coupons are only good until the end of February.

There are other coupons but you can use only one. I'm going to get the A.R.E CX with a fold down front window option (for cleaning) and use the free carpet liner coupon which is supposed to be worth $125. They have coupons for led lights and other stuff too.

The fold down window is in addition to the $1335 so I'll probably be over $1400 into it.
Also going to get a full bedrug for the bed from the same place.

This is in southern IL.

My Leer ran 1490, with "dog" screens (heavy duty window screens) and headliner. No tax buying it in Oregon.

And I was happy to see a MPG increase

Looks great!

I should see my ARE MX cap soon. The dealer estimated end of February when I ordered it. I got the tilt down fron window for easy cleaning and the Screen Vent side (frameless) windows for the clean look. Hope I see a bump in MPG's too! $1700. (ouch!)

Thanks. $1175 isn't too bad considering the Bak cover I am considering was in the $700 range.

I like the look of a cap on these! Maybe next year, if things go well.
