I purchased a 2016 Colorado Z71 Crew Cab, Midnight Black Edition about 6 weeks ago (this was after spending some time on your forum doing research - thanks for that).
I love the truck and it has all the LPO (Dealer Installed) install extra's like the performance intake and exhaust, blackout out grill and rims, blah, blah, blah.
At issue is the badging. I can't find any instance of a 2016 Chevy Colorado Z71 Midnight Black Edition with Z71 badging on the rear quarter's, only on the driver and passenger front doors. The Chevrolet "Customer Engagement Center" was at best annoying and with ZERO resolution. Even the picture on the "my Chevrolet" app does not show the rear fender badging.
Does anyone out there know how this happens? Is it a fluke or a rarity?
All the photos I've seen don't have it. Why not just ask the dealer to take them off? It's kind of weird to have 2 on each side. I like the ones you have on the doors.
I have a Z71 and do not have badging on the doors. Looks like they made a trade off on your model. Looks like you get one or the other, but not both. JMO.
The midnight edition Z71 is only suppose to have the emblem on the door. The back fender Z71 decal shouldn't be there. Maybe it is the dealer who is suppose to remove it? Just like the dealer switches the tires for the Trail Boss.

Dealer is supposed to remove bed emblems as well as Colorado logos on doors and install Z71 emblem on driver and passenger door as part of truck "setup".

Joining late on this but I just moved home and one of my new neighbours has a midnight Colorado so I got to make some comparisons. The comments regarding dealer installed emblems makes a lot of sense; just Google "Colorado Z71 Midnight" and you will see every combination of emblems possible and also some Midnight variants, for example some have chrome window sills, some are blacked-out.
My truck is totally blacked out from the dealer; it's essentially a Midnight without any special emblems. It was lifted by the dealer so it could be that it was ordered with all the Midnight parts except the wheels then lifted and they didn't bother with the Z71 badging on the doors.

Well the Z71 Midnight Edition is suppose to come with the Z71 emblems on the doors, not Colorado emblems. The dealer is suppose to remove the Z71 decals off the bed too. A lot of dealers just remove the Colorado emblems and replace them with the Z71 emblems on the door and never take the Z71 decals off the bed. You should get the whole package when you order it. I think the LTs have the chrome trim on the windows if they have the luxury package added to them. Here's an actual Z71 Midnight Edition photo. If you notice it doesn't have the Z71 emblem in the grill.
Let's see, you basically pay for the blacked out rims, black painted grill, black bow ties and Z71 emblems. If it is a Z71, I believe you get upgraded tires too. If it's an LT, I don't think you get the tires or different emblems.
My 17 Z71 Midnight has both as well, I have thought about having dealer removing the rear decals several times but forgot when I had my free oil changes.
