They would protect somewhat the sides but especially the wheel opening lip itself from chips, since the manufacturers don't really do wheel opening moldings anymore. I think the smaller ones look better with the stock wheels and tires. You see the ones EGR markets through GM as an accessory? Hideously huge and ugly too.

I'm looking for a set similar to the early models. I like the style. Seems a bit more coverage over fender. My problem is finding it in texture like oem without the simulated bolts ??

As far as I can tell, the 84059964 Fender Flares pretty much the same as the first Gen fender flares. They are black, have a matte textured finish and provide about 1 3/4" or so of edge protection plus covering the exposed lip.
At any rate, UPS tracking says I should have them by Tuesday.

When they arrive, I'll take some pics including close ups and details.

I looked at the install instructions and it shows you need to take the wheels off. Can it be done with out removing the wheels?

Yeah, I saw that too and then saw another link - -- Do not have to remove. They go on just like the ones I had on my Gen I Colorado and I did not have to remove wheels. Very simple.

let me find it. Here it is. . ..

If you decide to get the flares. . can you please post where you got them ?

I found the shipping of several websites varies every day if not by hours.

If you find a good price please post?

For anyone interested, UPS dropped off the GM Flares today from GM Parts House.
They are a full 3" wide at the top and taper a bit down to the bottom to about 2 3/4". They are contoured and have a bevel to them and have a textured, black matte finish.

Also, the depth or profile is at least 1" to 1 1/4" that they stand away from your painted fender. So not as bulky as Bushwackers, but still offer substantial protection for everyday driving as well as your casual off road use.
Plus. .. more than decent protection against door openers on parking lots.

I will post some pics before I install them and then later afterwards perhaps next week. I want to make sure it is warm enough for the tape to hold well.

I would say shop around as I got them for $219 and change delivered.

EDIT: BTW, these things come in a huge box.
About 4' x 2.5' x 1.0', so maybe that is why some charge so much for shipping? No .. . I would guess more like about $50 because the shipping weight is only 14lbs.

Ok, here are some pre-install photos of the GM factory Colorado Fender Flares. The full fender flare picture is for the Left Front. As I mentioned earlier, the flares are about 3" to 3 1/4" at the top widest and taper down towards the ends to about 2 3/4".
They are about 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" thick which is the distance away from the fender. See the pics.

I will take pictures after and maybe during install, but the weather has turned cold again so not sure when that will be. But when I do install these I will take some. A little more work than I expected since I already have splash guards installed and will have to remove them.

lol the $206 has a shipping of $663 to Hawaii. BTW, I just placed an order with gmpartsnow.com and the shipping was only $23. Now the waiting game starts. @GraniteBlue05 what was your delivery time?

Right like the ones on my 2005, I'm not sure what these were part of, I have my window sticker somewhere, maybe the Z85 option? I wanted that because I got bumped up to 235/75R15 tires

There you go. . I checked gmpartsnow also and $23 to me also and $247 for the 84059964.

Funny thing is. . except for the company name, the web page is EXACTLY the same as gmpartshouse where I ordered from. Now their shipping to me is $231. Go figure. I paid $219 and change shipped.

I ordered mine on March 1st and got them March 7th. . yesterday.

I found the window sticker on my 2005, not sure if the flare were part of the LS package or Z85.
I haven't done anything yet for flares. Am secretly hoping that they'd make something like the ZR2 flares for a non-ZR2 truck because I like the looks a lot more.

hi folks: I estimated my new Bushwackers to extend an extra 1.5" out, exactly matching my wheel offset. Pre flares, I got a swept road spray pattern from the wheel well up to the windows. I've only driven the truck once with the flares installed, in the rain and the swept pattern has gone. I need some mud to really see what happens.

Read the other posts hee. And see the pictures I posted earlier of the GM flares that show size and texture.

Also, the GM 84059964 flares are available on Ebay and GMpartsnow.com for about $247 shipped or with less than $25 shipping.
