There is just one bolt in each side securing this? Could you have dropped the vault in place, drilled a 1/4" hole in each side, pulled out the vault, enlarged the holes in the existing console to match the nutsert, inserted the nutserts, replaced the vault and installed 1/4" bolts from the inside?

You can do that with new nutserts and an installation tool. Problem is that the plastic is too weak to hold the nutserts. They would spin and would likely just pull out of the plastic Then you would still have the original serts sticking into the Console Vault.

Yes, there is only one bolt on each side securing the vault. It comes with the nutserts already in place and expanded into the 12 gauge steel sides. Are you wanting to mount it without removing the console center? It really doesn't get any easier than this.

Nutserts are really hollow threaded rivets. There is quite a big gap between the console insert and the outer structure of the console if that is where you were thinking to put the nutsert. The nutserts don't really stick out much into the vault and with a cap over them, you will not notice them.

It's way easier than I thought. Seats don't have to come out. Front half of the console remains untouched except for removing the shifter trim bezel.

Thank you Bob! My TPW is 10/12/15 so I am thinking I will have the truck soon. I just ordered the vault. I cannot wait to do the install. I'll let you know how it goes. Your pictures are much appreciated. Thanks again!

I wasn't able to tell that the nutserts came already mounted in the box nor that there is space between the side of the box and the console so your way makes the best installation. I appreciate your posting this information.

There you go. I remember that day when I picked up mine from the dealer. Enjoy it, personalize it.

It really is pretty simple. I made it harder by trying to put some 3/16" foam under it. The Tahoe version has much room between the top door of the vault and the bottom surface of the console armrest. The Colorado does not have any extra space. That is why I had to shim my latch.

SavageBob, how is it working out? Any reason you went with a 4 digit combo lock vs 3 digit or key? Photo with stuff in it? Thanks!

The owner of the company recommended the max security 4 digit lock. I hate having to use a key. The vault is great. I don't keep anything in it. I use it for temp storage of my firearm when going in to forbidden buildings. Courthouse, post office, etc.

Anybody actually got a photo of this thing installed in the twins? What are the inside dimensions?

Pics had to get deleted so I could post others. Storage must be at a premium here. Interior space is roughly the same as the console interior. It is the only game in town. If you need one, there is no other choice for the console location. It is a quality made product.

Well, I know what my next mod is. This looks sharp. I used to hide my pistol under the tray of my ZR-2's center console. Most people don't even realize the old ZR-2 has a compartment under the tray in the center console. I think I owned the truck for 5 or 6 years before I discovered it. No such thing in the new Canyon so this vault looks like a great option.

would someone mind measuring the opening of the vault for me? I can't seem to find the dimensions and it looks like it might be a tight squeeze for what I am thinking

Thanks for the photos. I'm going to order one. Wife has been concerned about me keeping a pistol in there with no lock on the console. How fast can you unlock the thing with the 4 digit lock system?
