Seat tearing... Warranty cover it?

Weird place for it to tear. I'm 99% the only person driving, 30" waist and 135# soaking wet I'm not exactly a big heavy person you might expect to tear a seat. Truck has about 33000mi on it so still under warranty hopefully this is covered.

Mine did the exact same thing (only at like 12k miles) the dealer ordered a new seat cover, and replaced it, all under warranty

My '15 did the same after 30k miles. Replaced the whole seat bottom cover under warranty. Better do it quick!

How insensitive! It's 2016, they're called persons of size or persons requiring 2 plane tickets.

For those that had it replaced under warranty, any signs of seeing the second one doing it?

Thinking it would be best to wait until you're warranty is almost up to get it fixed...hopefully this an issue that's been addressed on the replacement seats.

I looked yesterday (now at 21k miles) ad the replacement is holding up nicely, no visual signs of it having issues.

This is my seat at 10000mi on a 2016 z71. I'm going to mention it at my next service.

I am not real concerned about it for the duration of my ownership, it's at resale in the out of warranty 90000mi range that I want it looking new so not to be a hit on value. My question is, has anyone ever been able to keep the old one, or gotten a new one under warranty uninstalled to save for later in the trucks life.

GM Requires dealer to keep the the old parts in the case they request them back when replaced under warranty so the option to keep the old one will not exist.

FYI This picture looks exactly like my '15 Z71. I hope the new one holds up better. I have only 14000 miles and it is being replaced under warranty.

That's what warranty's are for, frustrating certainly, but we're only in year 2 of this model and it's not unusual to have small aggravating issues such as these.

There are a couple threads on this problem. I merged your thread with this one.

Pictue posted could be mine.

2016 Z71 w/ about 13,000 miles. Purchased Jan 2016. I have tear in exact same spot, Just noticed it this A.M. Have been happy with truck so far but I am concerned about repairs when warranty expires. Just returned from dealer 3 days ago because of a broken exhaust flange bolt. Dealer has been good so far with repairs, hope seat fix goes well.

Repair done about 10 days ago. Going back tomorrow because repair job is terrible. Think I should get a new seat.

3yr/36,000 warranty, just keep getting it repaired. Been awhile since anyone mention this problem, so it's possible the new/replacement seats don't have the issue.

I had mine replaced at about 12k for this issue - I've got 73k on it now and it's perfect, no issues, so the new seat cover must be different. I get in and out of my truck 20 times a day at least, so it gets a lot of wear.
