I assume that the remote start on the Silverado at least also fired up the hydraulic power steering so that the stress was relieved and allowed the key to turn.
Interesting thing I will have to check out on our trucks: Does remote start actually turn the electric power steering on, or does this system only come to life when the key is turned? Hydraulic systems were by virtue of their power source always "ON" when the engine was running, but no reason to power up the electric power steering until a key is turned.
Probably just trivial to the life of our trucks, but curiosity killed the cat, and as a dog lover, can that be all bad?
I am sitting outside a house waiting on local police to arrive so I can report a break in at a house. Empty house. Looks like they were after copper.
Anyway, appears that on remote start the electric power steering is NOT enabled.
