Took my colorado into the dealer to have them remove the air dam after I had the zone level installed. They said it had to be sent to the body shop because the bumper had to be removed. Anyone ever heard of this? Needless to say its still on...
I did it in an hour and that was with one eye...not to one up you NSdave but i literally have one eye and can SEE that taking the bumper off is all types of wrong.
If you do not want to tackle the project on your own you should seek out another service department. The one you went too probably wasn't up to do it and more or less 'deterred' you from having it done. It's not really worth your time to go back to them in an effort to convince them it's easy.
Remember, if it were 'that easy' you may not have been seeking out a place to have the work performed.
I don't think I would trust that dealer to attempt that task or other tasks in that case:
30 minutes or less with tiny vise grips & a roach clip......
AND......
AND......
I put it back on in the 30 minutes using the same 2 tools just in the reverse order.

It's a shame he has a dealer like that. Gives dealers bad name. Took my collie for it's first oil change and told dealer I would like to take the air dam off. When I got truck back the dam was off and NO CHARGE. . Customer satisfaction can go a long way.
Took like 30 minutes. Not as easy as they should have made it but it sure ain't hard.
