Post Anyone Swap the key around?

As most of us know, we're back to the 1990's with the Separate key and Remote for our 2015-2016 trucks.

I honestly hate it...
Just was wondering, has anyone tried to pair the Chevy flip out keys to our trucks?
or something along that nature?

EX: i know my specific key has remote start...
Obvi we have tailgates so we couldn't utilize a key with a "Trunk Button"

Some keys with JUST Lock/Unlock Panic Remote start are:

2015-2016 Chevrolet Equinox
2015-2016 Chevrolet Impala
2015-2016 Chevrolet Sonic
2015-2016 GMC Terrain

If anyone can confirm if this works, i'd be stoked...
Would be an interesting little project.

I also started looking into it as well. The keys use the same frequencies and have the laser cut key so in practice they should work but no one will know till we try

I'll tell you what!

If I can get like 2 more vote of confidence like yours I'll shell out the money and buy a real Chevy Sonic Key from the Dealer myself just to ensure it does work!

I came from owning a 99 Audi Allroad, 02 Audi A6, and 02 Audi S4.. All with flip out keys... I'd be damned if I keep carrying around this Key and Remote Combo Chevy daunted me with.

Start here: What does your fob look like?

There are other threads about this too. But this is the first I can remember/find.

I tried looking... Everyone was talking about what their key looks like. Nobody actually took a key from a different vehicle and made it work for their Colorado or Canyon

Granted it was just a claim and I don't think he went into huge details. But there's another thread around here somewhere that discusses it.

Yeah, one guy talked about a "black ops" edition... Colorado's only came in a "Midnight Edition" and that key had a "Trunk open" button which is strange why they would issue a Colorado a Trunk open button.. I feel like that person was just trolling the thread.

Alright, so i got "Equinox keyfob is a possibility since they use the same frequency." And also a 2014 Camaro use the same freq.. I'll look into this further.

Doubt you can find a Camaro one piece FOB. GM recalled those because a contortionist could turn the ignition off with knee.
RatRacer, James Bell and 310HSSV like this.

2015 Canyon SLT, Copper Red, 2WD, CC, SB, V6, Tow, blk leather, factory spray liner, safety pkg, generic roll up bed cover.

20835404 this is the part number that you would want to use for the best chances. I'm possibly going to get one as well, hopefully at cost if my buddy can work his magic

Looking forward to the results and crossing fingers that it works.

Gm actually isn't even allowed to sell them anymore. The only place I've been seeing them is ebay and for us Canadians the prices are ridiculous.
