removing lowbeam bulb without the bumper?

hey guys,
is it possible to remove the headlight bulb without removing the front end? ive changed out all my other bulbs and its pretty simple, but ive noticed the lowbeams seem to have a retention ring around them.

also, side question..i picked up a set of OPT7 LED bulbs for the low beams. they are just the bulb and not the bulb, fan, motherboard combo that usually comes with LEDs. will installing just the bulb in the headlight housing work or do i need the all that other nonsense? only dipped my toe in the world of LEDs so pardon my ignorance.

Yes. Left side is completely accessible. Right side requires removing the cold air panels. Removing the horn makes your life a lot easier.

You can easily change the passenger side out by just removing the small plastic shield above it with a T-25 bit. It's a little tight but manageable
Driver side is self explanatory, no problem there.

Torx screw. You can get it at Harbour freight or ace hardware.

Oops. Just realized the above post already stated what I said.

You just rotate the bulb to get it out, counter clockwise.

I'm confused. . how did you buy the OPT7 LEDs without "all the other nonsense"?

Which, BTW, is very necessary to relieve the *HeaT* that is produced for LED operation. If you remove all the heat sink, fans, etc. . . your LEDs will burn out in a hurry .. if they will work at all.

You need everything, not just the bulbs. There is no lock ring, turn the bulbs and pull them out

i have H7 bulbs to go into the anzo lights i installed on my car. so if i need the LED bezel "accessories" , am i wrong for just installing led bulbs in my fogs and high beams without the other equipment?

The H7 bulbs have a metal retaining clip. Unlatch the clip and they should come out easily, maybe even fall out. Im not sure what you mean by "bezel accessories" but its not a problem installing led bulbs in the anzo housings. they should be a direct replacement. The leds may come with a fan or heatsink and those are required.

Yeah H7s you just push down on the tab on the retaining clip and it springs out.

ok, I should have been more clear. sorry. all makes sense.

yes, I picked up some H7 LEDs but it just came with the bulbs and not the heat sinks/fan/motherboard. so I guess these will not work. ill have to find some H7s that are "complete"

I would bet that those are direct replacement. They do not appear to need an external driver or cooling. The plug inside the headlight should plug into them just as it does the halogen bulb.

With that said, you may find them inadequate for low beams.

I'm a little confused as to what you are doing with H7 bulbs? The 2nd gen twins take 9005s/h11 bulbs for the highs/lows and 5202 for the fog lights.

He has the anzo aftermarket headlights, which uses H7 bulbs for low beam.

Yeah those do appear to be a direct replacement plug and play but with that I doubt they would be anywhere close to powerful enough for a low beam. Probably why they are listed as "Fog lights" as well.
