Any idea what this does?

Found this connection unplugged, as it was hitting my gas pedal foot. It's to the right of the gas pedal near the front of the dash. Any idea as to what it is? Everything seemed to be working....

I believe that's the connector for the auxiliary electric heater on the diesel models.

This is a diesel model. Anyone else with a diesel model see this plugged in? I plugged it in because it was hanging so low it rubbed my gas pedal foot.

Yes, there's a couple other threads on here of people finding it unplugged. Not uncommon.

The fact that you are in California explains why it was left unplugged. I'm in Canada and mine was plugged in of course. I wonder where they draw the line on that.

I think the issue with this particular wire harness is that it is specific to the Diesel, but who would have thunk that a wire harness underneath the instrument panel was specific to the Diesel. Would expect it to be common to all trucks.

A few links:

Plug not connected under dash by the pedal

Plug

Interior plug/harness hanging down

Perhaps mods could merge all of the threads in the diesel, but somehow leave a link with some key words in the electrical forum to help in searches?

Not on the plug not being connected, but about this item in general:

diesel hvac electric heater
