Electronic tailgate lock

I installed a electronic tailgate lock on my 2011 Canyon which did not have a key lock, now the company, Dynaloc, makes a unit for the second gen twins. My tailgate now locks and unlocks with the door locks and along with the Extang Solid Fold tonneau creates an environment that resists unwanted fingers in your cargo. Granted not a bank vault but sure helps when taking that new weed eater home or other temporary light security while traveling.
The cost for the unit with a US actuator is $130 delivered and requires drilling only one hole for wiring harness and that comes with a grommet to finish off the hole.
Neat addition for those with a canopy or hard cover.

I installed the power tailgate lock on my 2017 Canyon, works like a charm.

The details included in this thread were helpful. How to: Power Tailgate Lock

Based on the website for Dynoloc I found, I think they are associated with Pop N Lock? Not sure from this website that they are showing a unit specific to the 2nd gen trucks.

Dyno Products Inc.

I think the website is out of date, only shows older trucks.

If you Google PL8140 some of the places that come up has it for a little less than that. Just ordered mine from Walmart.com for $97.93 free shipping.

The Dynaloc unit for the twins has a pop n loc actuator with the unit and unlike a lot of the cheaper units with Chinese actuators the Dynaloc kit is all USA and much stronger. The kit is complete and if a problem the owner will talk you through it.
Cary Bosse, The kits come from Frisco Texas so they gotta be good! (I will drive my Denali to Canton in July for a couple of months to help with the feral hog problem -- took 40 last year)

I installed my pop and lock kit but I did something that's not in the instructions. I cut the shorter harness that attaches to the actuator so that the connectors would meet at the same place behind the spare as the reverse camera connectors meet. That way, if you ever want to remove the tailgate, all you have to do is unplug the two sets of connectors. If you wire it as the instructions say, you'd have to cut the wires to remove the tailgate. That being said, I've owned four vehicles with removable tailgates in the past. The sum total of times I removed the tailgate is 1.........

Would they allow a dysfunctional Vet pop them from his truck with an AR?
