GM Program #: 2016019 HVAC Module Temp Door

Program Title:

HVAC Module Temp Door

Program Description:

Certain 2015-2016 model year Chevrolet Colorado and 2015-2016 model year GMC Canyon vehicles, may have a condition in which a crack in the heating and cooling module temperature door control shaft may form and result in inconsistent air discharge temperature control. If the shaft cracks, the air discharge temperature may be up to 33 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius) cooler than the requested values, depending on the HVAC mode selected.

Safety Risk Description:

The air discharge temperature may be up to 33 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius) cooler than the requested values, depending on the HVAC mode selected.

Repair Description:

Inspect the temperature valve control shaft for cracks. If the shaft is intact, install a reinforcing clamp around the temperature valve shaft to prevent the shaft from cracking. If more than one crack is present, replace the temperature control valve.

Customer Action:

Contact your dealer as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for this repair. By scheduling an appointment, your dealer can ensure that the necessary parts will be available on your scheduled appointment date.

OK, so this is not a recall. If you are outside of the warranty will the repair be covered?

I wonder if this is a possible fix for the issue @savagebob brought up a while back?

Fix for poor HVAC temperature regulation

It shows as a recall for me. I had this issue fixed last week but it did not show up as anything just the bulletin on it. But today I got a notification that I had an open recall and this was listed. Even though it was performed prior it shows as INCOMPLETE for me.

Easy, I have 38K miles, will be pushing 40K by Monday. Bumper to Bumper is only good for 36K miles. Without a recall or some other allowance, I have to pay for this repair.

Forgot about that mileage thing lol. Any new vehicles I have got I never get near that, always time for me. I know when I login to my Chevrolet it shows under recalls for me so not sure if that helps.

Pulled up my recall status - the HVAC issue is listed, so I would assume it is covered for me. (shows issued Sept. 14, 2016.)

Just checked mine & I'm showing the recall active (I'm in Canada). Must be brand new as I just had Recall# N150595 "LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST" taken care of Sept 23/16.

Interesting to note the recall was issued (Sept 14) prior to me having the above recall done (Sept 23), I guess it takes a while to filter through the system.

Yeah, recalls are treated separately from warranty items, time/mileage wise.
I am still getting harassed monthly by GM for the BS Camaro key recall for a 5 year old car.

Traded the 5 year old Camaro in on the Canyon. I guess the GMC dealer finally took care of the recall because I quit getting notices about 3 months after we traded it in.

Now I just need to convince my dealer to have the parts in hand before I take my truck in for repairs.

Yeah date issued must be delayed from when we get it. Literally picked my Truck up last Thursday after them fixing the Heating issue and it was not a recall at that time. I took it in because I had no heat. Same dealer called me yesterday about bringing it in to get this Program taken care of, told them you guys just did this last week but since it was prior to this being posted its showing as incomplete.

I just talked to my service writer friend about this. He told me he can't get rid of the recall, even though they just fixed it Friday 10/14. He told me once the recall letter hits my hands, to bring it in for them to go thru it, because usually they will install redesigned parts, and need to verify what they fixed my truck with was new or old design to satisfy the recall.

I will also now be asking if parts are in stock before bringing my truck in as well, it's a pain to bring it in, only to have to come back for back ordered parts.

Probably wouldn't hurt to have the Tech's "practice" the repair on other peoples Trucks so they know how to do it properly when it comes time to have it done on your truck!

Yeah I realized my error earlier. Being someone that never gets near mileage I often forget about that factor for many.

From what I have heard that regardless of if you need the part replaced or just the hose clamp to repair it they still use a hose clamp over the new part to insure it does not crack down the road. Mine is working fine with the hose clamp and while hearing of the duct tape like fix as long as it stays working Im ok with that.

I already have to take my truck back in as I have been struck with the rough idle/stall at stops a couple times now and it appears there is a calibration update to fix this. So Im guessing they will clear the recall HVAC then.

At roughly 2K miles per month, I had an 18 month bumper to bumper. Managed to slow down the miles over the last 6 weeks, by putting some miles on the Wrangler. This weekend will see at least 900 miles on my Canyon though, back to Baton Rouge to help out family affected by flooding some more.

And will tow popup camper for a comfortable place to sleep.

I got it listed has a recall. Log into my GMC owner center or My Chevrolet owner center and check. Finally, I hated that inconsistent air flow.
