This is also right in line with what Motor Trend saw on their longer term test on the Canyon. I'm not sure how long it was, but it was longer than the "first drive" tests that happened in CA last year. They got 22 city / 25 combined / 30 highway with a 4WD model. I expect we'll see similar numbers.

I would have hoped for slightly better MPGs from the diesel. However, first tank, be interesting to see after maybe 2-3K miles.

Does "winter-blend" impact diesels like it does gasoline engines? Could we expect better performance in warmer days? Is he using remote start or anything else to drive fuel mileage down? - Granted, that should show up in his average speed. The time spent learning the truck, checking out the acceleration & just getting used to truck will impact mileage. Another reason to await further results down the road.

Finally, and this is not the topic of this thread, how well does the truck perform overall, in regards to the shifting complaints of many? (This is a whole nuther thread I hope the OP addresses, and we need to wait till transmission has learned the driver.
Winter blend diesel does generally yield slightly lower fuel economy.

24.8 mpg in mostly city driving in cold weather? I will take that all day, everyday.

winter fuel, cold temps..this is great! My diesel 6.6l dmax loses 3 mpg on winter fuel

Great numbers for all around driving in a 4wd, brand new, during the winter diesel. I'd expect the same duty cycle in a V6 to result in about 17 mpg under an average driver.

Cary sees more but it varies by driver.

I average about 21 mpg in my I5 '09 Canyon, my wife averages about 16 mpg in the exact same car. The driver makes a large difference.

ah ha! I thought you did a 400+ mile trip in one day.

@dmcdufford Did the fuel warning come up on you? Not terribly important, but was just curious if warning popped up at 17 gallons effectively leaving 100mpg before empty.

I hope they keep at it for a while. It is about 5 minutes out of my way but I can live with that.
I would fill a 55 gal drum or two at those prices.

No, I filled up because the cheap station was convenient. It was less than 100 miles remaining on the tank but I did not get a warning. Maybe at 50 miles?

Yes it is , but it is better than 1.40 per liter that we were paying last summer. The oil sands are only five hundred miles east of me in Alberta

Really, your talking about price at the pump where you live and not mpg?
Let's see some good mpg information as it comes in, not a pricing study.

Here is my numbers straight from OnStar. I'm getting amazing figures I think for the time of year. It's rained or snowed everyday since I've had the truck. My biggest average over 25 miles is now up to 39.3mpg of course that's really trying to push it.
