What have you towed?

Good Morning Guys!

Just wanted to start a post and see what everyone has been towing with their rigs. I have owned my Canyon, SLT, 2.8L, for about three weeks now. I have put a little over 700 miles on it so far and have towed my brothers Tracker Tahoe boat. Not sure how much it weighs, but it towed it like a champ. Going to be towing my camper trailer this weekend (8ft x 23ft, 3867 lbs). I have read a lot on different forums about 23ft being too much for the truck to handle, but I used to tow my trailer once a month with a 3.7L H3. I say used to, since I sold the H3 for my down payment on the Canyon. The H3 handled the trailer well even though fully loaded with water, gear and people was putting it close to the 4500 lbs limit. Excited to see how the Canyon handles the load. Will post pictures when available.

I've towed my sister-in-law's ginormous pontoon and heavy steel trailer. I estimated that rig to be about 5,000lbs. Handled that like a champ.

I've pulled a 4-seat Polaris RZR on a 14' aluminum trailer. That combo probably came in under 3,000lbs. No issues whatsoever.

Exhaust brake is fun. Nothing like GA-GA-GA-GA coming from a little truck. 😀

Thus far, I have only towed an open u-haul trailer when I helped my son moved. I'm guessing that the trailer maybe weighed a total of 4k loaded. Also had the bed loaded up with stuff. The truck didn't even stutter... The only time I felt the trailer was when it was empty and bouncing over every little bump.

Hopefully, by next summer, I will be graduating to a 5k+ toy hauler and will be reporting back...

What have you towed?

It'll tow anything my Sierra with the 5.3 would tow only it does it better. My biggest load was about 9k pounds (be careful loading ).

Aren't there supposed to be legs on the back of those trailers to prevent that?

I have a 16 CCLB with the V6 and a Curt triflex brake controller I bought at the dealer.

1993 Kubota L2650 with loader and backhoe, and yellow 3 point wood chipper in the bed.

I also have a 1988 Four Winn's Horizon 200 on a single axle, brake-less trailer I've towed but no pics.

Yeah there sure are! Previous owner cut them shorter and I haven't gotten around to lengthening them, it's on my list though! For now I make sure the truck is in 4x4 before loading... and not on a slope.

Picked up my car hauler today. It's more trailer than the truck will ever handle. 12k capacity drop axle trailer with extended ramps. 2,600lbs total weight and I traveled a couple hundred miles. 22mpg without using tow/haul mode and driving normally. It rode a bit rough, not sure if it was due to the lack of tongue weight or just how the shocks are when towing. The engine was great.
