Overland Build

I traded in my 2015 Colorado CC Long Box LT 2x4 v6 for a 2016 Colorado CC Short Box z71 4x4 v6 in October 2016. Ultimately I wanted to get into some light offroading, and after a while decided I wanted to make it into an overlanding rig.

This is my 2016 z71 4x4 the day after I brought it home from the dealer.

I waited about 2 or so weeks and took off the Air Damn. It was super easy, just a little time consuming.

I installed some LED's to the bed of my truck. After I get a softtopper, this will really help out. You can see more about the install here.

http://coloradofans.com/forums/201-2...g-16-rado.html

Being that this will ultimately be an overlanding rig, I need a way to keep food cold. I wont be out for weeks at a time, but I'll need to keep everything cold for a few days at a time without all the ice melting immediately. I picked up this RTIC 65 right before the settlement between Yeti and RTIC for dirt cheap to handle the food storage for me.

Next up was the light bar. Need that for all the mall-crawling I'll be doing here in Central Florida.

And a little demo of the light.

i am doing this as well. very money and time consuming. I am wondering if anyone is worried about the added weight for the gear we are mounting with the stock suspension? awesome topic and awesome looking light bar. what brand did you go with?

I wont be keeping stock suspension for long. Just waiting for the black Friday sale to get the Icon setup.

As for the light bar, i used an Xprite bar.

Went out to Ocala National Forest on Sunday. Didnt manage to snag many photos, but did realize how convenient a Nav solution would be, and remembered I've got a tablet dedicated to playing music in the garage. So I'm going to look into setting up Nav with my Galaxy Note 8.0. Shouldnt be difficult since the tablet already has built in GPS. Just need to mount it to something, Windshield, Passenger seat slider rails, etc.

I put that same light bar on my Polaris and loved it. Put out some serious light and was cheap enough that I wouldn't feel bad if I broke it. Great build so far!

So the parts came in earlier. Ordered an Arkon 7-8" tablet mount to hold my Sammysung Galaxy Tab 8.0, a usb cigarette port, and special wire to hardwire my dashcam to the fuse box. I ordered the wrong add-a-circuit fuse (needed a 2 pin micro) so that is on order right now.

But the Arkon tablet mount is good, for the price I paid. I'll probably end up using a little velcro sticker on the dash to keep it from bouncing around. Also broke into the instrument panel fuse box and moved a fuse to give me power full time to the cigarette lighter to power the USB plugs, and once the add-a-circuit comes in, i'll pop that into F29 to power the dash cam only when the ignition is on.

Here are the links to the items I purchased.

Yup. I had ordered the add-a-circuit fuse kit and will tuck it into the weather stripping down to the fuse box below the passenger kick panel but it was the wrong size fuse. The Colorado uses a 2 pin micro fuse which I guess is new. Got one on order now. I also have a 12v to 5v/3a inverter to power it. Just need to extend it since the inverter cable barely reaches the weather stripping, and find somewhere to ground the cable.

Here are the links. I'll post results after I get that finished up.

Is your colorado stock in this photo at Ocala? I was going to take my canyon out there this weekend, but everything is stock at the moment. Looking for some easy trails to go on.

Yep. Suspension and tires are stock until the end of the year. I'll be picking up the Icon kit for their Black Friday sale.

Although if you like your paint, be careful out at OFN. Lots of the trails out there are extremely tight and will pinstripe your truck pretty badly. I prefer Citrus WMA which is West of OFN. I might actually be going out to Citrus this weekend, if you'd care to join. PM me your contact information if your interested.
