Fuel tank

How much fuel does the tank really hold???............I was in between the empty line and the 1/4 tank line. The pump clicked off at 16.3.....I continued to let it dribble in until it sat at the top of the neck....the pump then showed 19.3

Also compared to my past 15 3500hd with 6.6 diesel, which I normally spent $200-230 a month on fuel. This 2.8 diesel will be 8 weeks on the road tomorrow and I just filled up today and have only spent $183 since picking it up...with 1693 miles on the odometer ......95% around town driving too!

While it isn't stated at 21 gallons there have been reports of folks getting up to 25 gallons in the tank. 21.5 is the best I've put in mine and that was right as the low fuel light came on.

Fuel light came on today and I was able to put in nearly 24 gal. I probably could have gotten in a little more but I was impatient. The story goes that Chevy used the same tank from a Silverado and just changed where the auto shutoff is.

If I'm patient and have a real slow pump, I've put 24 gallons in mine, even before the low fuel light warning comes up. And this as with the fill nozzle pulled up so I could observe the stream...

I've put 18.5 gallons in mine. Says it has a 21 gallon tank on my short bed.

Long bed trucks might get a bigger tank?

GM Upfitter sheet says 19.5gal. I've managed to get 22 in mine. Is there a light in addition to the DIC warning? Never gone that low.

I get over 25 gallons in mine everytime I fill up, different types of fuel (reg or super) and different stations (brands). I posted about this when I first got the truck thinking the station was ripping me off.

Strait from them the Chevy website. "21 gals". Who knows. I was never able to put more than 20.5 gallons at the time the light came on. Maybe you are getting ripped off by your gas stations. Wouldn't Chevy would want to tell us that it holds 24 gals if it did?

Don't forget that you are filling the filler tube too. And whether the truck is on level ground or not.

I've put 25 gallons in mine, but that was on a cold day, and the fuel light had been on for a long time, probably 35-40 miles

For those who forget their past, are condemned to repeat it.
