Write up: Headlight replacement

2016 Chevy Colorado High and Low beam replacement:

Tools:
Plastic pry flats or small flat head
10mm socket
1/4" drive ratchet with 4" extension
parts tray

Parts:
High beam- 9005 type bulb
Low beam- H11 type bulb

This write up is for changing the bulbs on the 2016 Chevy colly and could be used for others please check with your truck and see how much it matches.

First, I am a mechanic... but I am not advising any one that this is the only way to do this nor should they take my word as gospel, working on a vehicle is dangerous and should be done at your own risk.

Place vehicle in park and set brake.
Ensure the trucks lights are off and the key is removed from the ignition
pop and raise hood, locate the passenger side portion of engine bay and find where the horn sits.

remove one 10mm bolt from horn, do not drop horn, set horn down out of the way (no need to disconnect)- above pic shows passenger bay with shroud already removed and horn set aside

Next, pull all the push pins that run up the passenger side and the two that are located just behind the horn, one lower and one upper. Also move the coolant hose out of the way by wiggling the xmas tree pins that are in the shroud back and forthe with a pulling action, they will come out just fine with some pressure.

there are two^

now, find the two black caps labeled GM , the one that is inside is the high beam. Remove that cap and replace the bulb inside (MAKE SURE NOT TO TOUCH THE BULB AGAINST ANYTHING NOR WITH YOUR HANDS AS THE OILS WILL DECREASE THE BULB LIFE!!!) I found it easier to replace the bulb by removing the connector while it was still secured in the housing. Reverse the process by putting the bulb in first then connecting the harness (you will be less likely to touch the bulb this way).

Make sure the blue seal on the headlight bulb cap labeled GM is still in its groove and not getting pinched while placing it back.

Now- reverse the process and duplicate for the drivers side. as the drivers side is already open there's not much to do.

Night shots: after only...

So I'm lame and forgot to take before shots. However here's them now, they are about 2-3 times as bright.

Low-

High-

I like them, and they were pretty cheap on amazon.

Thanks for posting this.
Low beam headlights are my next mod, either this or LED?
