ProFab Performance Intake Tube LWN 2.8L Duramax Installation and Discussion

I am opening a thread to document my install and discuss the product
Install was very straight forward
Fit and finish is top quality
Definitely love the bead rolled ends of the hard pipe
I like the rough powder coat and the silicone boots are heavy duty
Included all hardware
Attached Files
File Type: pdf ProFab Performance Intake Tube (2016+ Colorado Duramax).pdf (507.8 KB, 184 views)

I agree on the quality for sure. I could see what looked like 7 layers of reinforcement material in the silicone. Install was simple. I cut about 3/4" off turbo end of the lower boot and 1/2" off the air box side of the upper boot. This allowed for a nice fit up without touching anything, even the oil filter housing. I also installed the Profab hot side ic pipe. Another good quality item. Fit was spot on and the 2 3/8 pipe is routed under the air intake with only one 90 degree turn plus a slight bend. I chose this vs. the afe for that reason as the afe has three 90 degree turns and is much longer in total length. Went with the afe on the cold side. The piping was much longer and less rubber balloon, I meant boot.
My first road test was pulling my 16' enclosed trailer loaded to about 4500lbs. I definitely can tell the engine gets torque quicker than before. No dyno to prove it. Turbo whistle is present now. I'm liking the upgrades for sure.

When ordering the the intake tube, should I add the PCV fitting? It asks on their website and I didn't see it discussed here.

If you aren't rerouting you PCV, you'll need the fitting

Was the intake tube long enough? I had a couple changes requested and I think everybody should have the newest pipe

The tube fit nicely. Was plenty long enough. The hot side pipe did not come with the adapter to the ic fitting but the boot attached securely without any drama. I trimmed about 3/4" off the turbo end and about 1/2" off the air box end. I ordered mine early last week before the group buy. The silicone elbo on the air box side came separately from the supplier direct shipped. A little tweaking an it fit without touching anything. The breather tube fitting is nice and snug too. Overall a good quality kit.

I ended up removing an inch from the turbo side, clocking it at about 10:00, 10:30 respective to the turbo inlet, to keep it off the oil filter housing. And also removed about an inch from the airbox side

So many talented people on this site modifying and building things why hasn't some made this. Seems like it'd be a LOT cheaper to buy a couple boots and bend a piece of pipe then $189.
