Default Removing catalytic converter

My friend is going to put an exhaust on for me this weekend and I think I am going to ask him to remove the cat converter. I hear there are 2 on this truck, does he need to remove both of them? I am doing it hoping to get the better mpg (for you Dillusion) that everyone tells me I will get.

We will be going to get all the stuff for the exhaust on Saturday, whats a good place to go to (like AutoZone, Advance, etc.) to find a good exhaust and what do yall with the Colly recommend? I dont want anything too loud, just a little deeper than the stock.

Thanks for all the help.

I'm not going to say anything about MPG because I still find it funny people are grumbling about gas and such but yet I live where the gas is the highest.

But on subject hes going to change everything? I dont see the point in redoing the piping. I would just cut off before the muffler.

Prolly going to a local exhaust shop would be best to find a muffler. I dont think autozone and stuff like that is the best places to go.

If your friend is putting it on shouldn't he know where to get it from?

Yeah he said he knows where to get the stuff, i just figured it wouldnt hurt to ask people on here where they get them.

I want a dual exhaust coming from the back so I am not sure how he will do it, he has done it on other cars but not on a Colly I dont think. I told him I didnt think it would work with my spare tire and the hitch back there.

And I talked with Alvin at PCM4Less and he will fix the computer for me when I get a tune after the exhaust is installed.

I'd just throw your spare in the bed. Once I get a spare rim I'm just going to throw it in the bed and get rid of my spare.

But I'm spending my money on other things right now.

I see Mecklenburg County does emissions inspections. Will your Colorado still pass without a cat?

Well if they do inspections then why take off the Cat.

Doesn't make any sense to do it in the first place.

Has anyone tried out either of the two cat back exhaut systems that GM sells?

I found a Touring and a Performance model on GM's accesories web site the other day. If I use GM accessories on a Leased truck I would only have to pay for about half of the part but If I use aftermarker I would have to pay for the whole thing and likely have to swap it back at the end of the lease.
