New Engine

Today I took my 04 Canyon 3.5 to my dealer to check for an oil leak.I thought the leak was more than likely the head gasket. To my horror it turned out to be the engine block itself. The engine block is seeping oil due to a bad casting.GM says mine is only the fourth one they have seen due this.My truck only has 22,000 miles and is well taken care of.My truck is out of warranty but they are going to replace it with a fresh 3.5 crate motor with the upgraded head and all.My dealer is great and have always done a good job.I am disappointed this happened but my dealer and GM are standing behind their product.

That is good news. I don't know why so many people have had problems w/ GM's out of warranty work. They generally stand behind their products. I have friends who bought used trucks and GM still backed it up.

You should have asked to pay the diff to get the v8 upgrade tho!!!

I tried to get them to give me a 3.7, but they wouldn't do it.

It's nice to heat success stories and not always just the bad news.
You are slightly inconvenienced, but you get a brand new engine with all of the upgrades.
Ya done good..!

Thats too bad, and unfortunate that you need a new engine.

But on the bright side your truck will almost be new once again! I am happy that GM is standing behind it although I know it must suck.

Why is your truck out of warranty? You stated it only had 22k on it right?

He also stated he has an '04 so he could have had it before September of '04. Like me my warranty always expires with time before mileage.

Let us know how it goes after the new engine is in.
