Busted rear bumper

Went hunting last week. When I went over a cross ditch on a logging road, the ditch turned out to be bigger than I thought. The rear bumper hit the ditch real hard and got busted. So this morning I took my truck to my mechanic and asked him if he could fix it. He referred me to his buddy's bodyshop. But after his buddy looked at the bumper, he said I had to replace the whole thing as the right chrome part was bent and no way to get that fixed.

Oh well, I don't know how much will that cost...any ideas folks?

No idea but now is the time to upgrade to a heavy duty bumper if you do that kind of stuff often.

Usually I don't do this, but this time I misjudged the size of the ditch. But where to get heavy duty bumper?

Um... If you have sockets and a ratchet you can replace it yourself.

I don't know maybe have someone custom make one. Or hit up a junk yard for a used one. It was just an idea.

go to a junkyard, or ebay. you'll get it for much much less than dealer price.

You may want to consider a rear receiver, sure it will reduce your rear ground clearance by 2" but I have hit mine HARD offroad and it is still in great shape, no damage but a few scratches. Also, it will give you a great tow point for the rear if you happen to get stuck, which is always a possibility.
