I know I don't have a chip in my key, but the place that installed my remote start said that some coly's do have the chip. So that's where I got my info from. I have heard some people on this forum talk about having chips in their keys, so what do you believe

I don't know if the newer ones have the chip, but my 08 doesn't. The key looks the same as the 2005 key.

Mine does NOT have the chip in the key.. Just a normal looking key but I want to still use my normal looking key to start the truck and do not want to use a remote starter. I thought with all the Passlock problems that have bombarded the Colorado's since 2004 that someone might have used a Passlock Bypass Module to bypass the Passlock entirely WITHOUT installing a remote starter. Looks to me if you can bypass it for the remote starter to work then you should be able to bypass it for the key to work. I'm no electrical engineer so that is why I am asking for help here. Again, let me make it clear that I'm not interested in a Bypass Modules installed to use a remote starter...I'm looking for info on Passlock Bypass Modules installed WITHOUT using a remote starter.. Thanks Jimmy

PassLock has been a problem long before there were Colorados. All GM models with PassLock have had certain vehicles that have the problems.
