what gas mileage does you colorado get???

I have a 2005 colorado Z71 4X4, with the 3.5L 5 cyl motor. I also have a cold air intake and an exaust system on it. My gas mileage is around 20-21 mpg. I though colorados got better gas mileage then this. Ohh and I don't drive it hard either, I keep the RPM's around 2,000. What is hurting my gas mileage or is this normal? What gas mileage do you get?

Re: what gas mileage does you colorado get???

I have a 05 crew cab with a 3.5 and 4x4. I do mostly highway like driving to work, around 30 miles each way and average 40 to 60 mph. Mine is stock (no cold air or anything) and I get around 22. Not to be a jerk but Iím sort of glad to see your numbers with a cold air. This tells me it wouldnít help much so I wonít waste the money on one.

He would probably get a little worse mileage with out it.

I have a 05' 3.5 CC 2wd auto with a K&N CAI and have 96K mi on the odo. I just got one of the best mileage readings since I have had my truck on a trip a week ago. Got 380 miles out of one tank and filled up 17.7 gallons. I usually average 18 mpg if I don't drive hard on it. Sometimes if it's 90% city driving I will get 17 mpg.

Re: what gas mileage does you colorado get???

I have a 2005 two wheel drive crew cab with the five cylinder, CAI, nothing else. This time of year I get 24 to 26 mph on the interstates (running 75 on 70 mph speed limit roads) and about 20 in town. I don't think I drive slow but I don't tromp on it just to slow down in a quarter mile. Our flat roads in MI help out alot.

Re: what gas mileage does you colorado get???

My cousin put on just the K&N filter and didnít get any better MPG. You guys are making me wonder though. Am I just lucky or what? My lowest was 17 and my highest was 24. I tend to average 21/22. I have some stops but a lot of flat and rolling hills on the way to work. I was running 70 + through the PA and WV mountains while hauling a 4 wheeler and a few other things and it went down to 17. I came back the same way but empty and averaged 20/21. I am currently OK on HP but a CAI is not cheap and I wonder how much of an increase I would see with one. I mean heck, you guys aren't doing that much better with a 2x4.

My best numbers so far are 28 mpg highway...2005 GMC Canyon Offroad 4x4 CC with the 3.5L. All I've done to the drivetrain is an exhaust system from MBRP.

04 Colorado LS 4x4 extend cab, automatic 2.8L. 304.5 miles on 16.32 gallons of gas = 18.65mpg, city

I thought it would get better mileage being a 4 cylinder.

Please correct me if I am wrong...all of this new computer stuff is very bizarre to me...but doesn't the computer need a minute to get used to the new power output before you will really see a benefit? I have read that the battery needs to be disconnected so it resets then it can relearn the new settings...its just wierd...my first truck had a computer for fuel injection...my second truck had a computer for that, emissions and fuel issues - nothing on the tranny.

Now these new ones it seems can adjsut for altitude, temperature, performance mods, can change transmission program for new power levels...its just bizarre...it wasn't that long ago all you needed was a tool box to fix your car...now it fixes itself!

Re: what gas mileage does you colorado get???

I have a 2005 Canyon Z85 2 wheel drive with the 3.5L, the only thing I have is an AEM intake and I average 23-24 if I drive easy and 20-21 if I drive hard. I saw a 1-2 mpg increase with the intake.

Re: what gas mileage does you colorado get???

I have a 2005 3.5L crew cab with AEM Bruteforce CAI, Borla muffler, Gerry's tune, 20" wheels, over 600 lbs in the bed and a SnugTop SL tonneau cover.

My best 434 miles with an 18.5 gallon fill-up driving back from Las Vegas so that's looking at 23.46 mpg. There's a 4000' elevation change and I was driving around 85-100+ mph most of the time.

2005 Z71 3.5 liter WT with Tonneau cover.

20+ MPG locally
24.5-25 at 70 mph on the Interstates
27.4 at 65 mph on the Interstates. (measured over a 1200 mile trip)

All of these are in flat land areas using non-ethanol diluted fuel (100% gasoline).

Re: what gas mileage does you colorado get???

With E10 (10% ethanol) gas I get 19-21 in town depending on how I drive and 24-25 highway. I'm sure w/ 100% gas I'd be seeing 21-23 city and 26+ highway.

Typically see 350 miles in town to an 18 gallon fill up and 450ish when full out road trip using CC at 70-75.

Re: what gas mileage does you colorado get???

I'm driving to Florida next weekend to get a jetski so it'll be interesting to see what kind of mileage I can get on a full tanke w/ the cruise control on the whole way. I'm hoping at least 450 miles on 18 gal. which would be 25 mpg. I've got a stock Z85 2WD I5 extended cab w/ stock size tires so it should be the most fuel efficient configuration.

Re: what gas mileage does you colorado get???

I have an '05 3.5L 4x4 Z85 with stick shift. I do mostly city, travel from and to job. It's a 10 min. ride and I do 13 liter / 100km (18 mpg) in summer and 16 liter / 100km (about 15 mpg)in winter (4x4 drains more fuel). I don't know how to get more out of it, even if 18 mpg is very good compared to my old '94 Explorer that was 15 mpg and down.....

Have some of you tried the E3 plugs, I have seen good reviews about those.... but I'm a little suspicious
