Default Largest tires on a stock Colorado?

Ok im new to this type of site but im trying to figure out how i can get more ground clearance on my 06 Colorado before i end up having to lift it. what i want to do first is tires, since i now need new ones but im not sure how big i can go. Any one been through this before? i dont care if it rubs a little as long as im not cutting fenders to get my tires to fit. what is my largest size before i need major mods? thanks.

What type of suspension does your Colorado have?

Z71's stock tire size 30.5"(or 31"), but anything 32" is pushing it, so a lift is almost required to fit any larger tire.

I am also pondering this question but I have put on a 2" lift on my 2004 Z71. Next step is to buy tires but not sure what size. I would like to get the biggest I can get without buying bigger wheels. Any suggetstions?

well i just went through the tire dillemma on my 08 Z71, i do have the suspension max + 2 inch shackle lift though and a 17 inch rim, but u can just crank your front torsion bars and get the same height and the back end ya wont have an issue with anyways for a slightly bigger tire.

biggest tire i was able to fit without cutting away parts of my fender or bumper was a 265/70 which is a 32x10.8 it fits just perfect, doesn't rub at all even pushing it fairly hard off road (it comes within mm's of my front fender with the front tire cranked hitting a heavy heavy bump, so close infact that deep mud in the tread has rubbed on full turn ya can see the smear on the well! :)

i really really really wanted 285/70's but i couldn't even turn my wheels at a stand still without clipping my front bumper =/ lol

I got 31x10.5x15 tires and 15x8 rims with 4.75" backspacing on a stock z85 crew cab 4x4. no rubbing at all but its very close! need 3" in the front and 2" in back to run a 32" or larger tire.

2009 and 2010 Z71s use a 265/70R17 which calculates to 31.6 inches in diameter. Closest truck tire is 31.5 inches.
