Default rattling and clanking under truck at 35 45 mph

hi i have a 05 chevy colorado z71 with 180k and still running strong ! in the last 3 weeks i have noticed something rattling or clanking undr the truck sounds like its coming from under the passenger side more . also i noticed it starts wen im slowing down and driving at a steady speed of 35 45 mph ??? i have gotten under truck i took most of heat shields off and i took off heat shield on manifold .i shook the and hit the ehxaust and heard nothing ? i have nerf bars on but they feel solid . i just cant find it ! help ????

does the frequency of the clank increase with speed or RPM? do you have a 4x4? I was thinking of CV shafts or wheel bearings.

Sounds like baffles in the converter, mine did that and finally came loose on a trip and chocked the engine down to a crawl, had to replace the converter. I think there is a recall up to 85,000 miles mine had to many to in the recall.

ya its a 4x4 z71 with 180k motor runs good and trani feels good.the noise reminds me of something like a rock rolling around ontop of heat shield but i took most of shields off ? i dont how els to tell you haha .. at 35 45 mph i can hear a steady vibrating sound ? then wen i slow down some it goes away . then wen i hit the gas nothing until i stay at 45 50 somtimes i can can hear it on freeway ?? thank for the all the help guys !

might have to put the truck on a lift or jack stands and try to pinpoint it. I did that when my Saturn Vue wheel bearing was going out.

I second the catalytic converter mine went out also and what you describe sounds a lot like it.

Default converter ??

so i have been told by a few people that its my catylatic converter . so how much is one and how much to have one put in ?? im thinking about just cutting the whole works off just a pipe with a muffler . i dont have to deq .
