I've got a question for you. I've got a line on two different radios:
Cobra 29LTD for $35 (Used) or Cobra 18 WX ST for $20 (New) All I am going to use this radio for is talking to my buds on roadtrips (we all run 'em in our trucks) and with truckers for traffic updates and such when running back and forth to school. I'm not going to be tuning it or anything like that. I've got a little background with CB's and have heard wonderful things about the 29, but I figured i'd ask around a bit first. Which radio would you go with, if any? Are these even "deals" or should I keep looking? |

How used is used? Does it look weathered on the outside?
I recently bought a used 29LTD, mainly for desert runs...got it for $52 shipped. I went with it because Ive seen (heard) one in action before and it didnt ever really give any trouble. It works pretty well for being used...looked brand new, wasn't modified in any way either. I got a firestik II antenna for it, a friend of mine has a SWF tester/tuner box that helped ALOT when tuning the antenna. I think the 29 will suit you just fine This reminds me to finish my install how-to lol. Last edited by lgrchris2000; 06-16-2012 at 02:05 AM. |

I'd go with the 29 too. Don't have it turned up at the CB shop, though. It won't last long if you do. The 25 has the same power as the 29, but w/less features. I've had a 25 in my 18 wheeler since 2004. Still working stock out of the box, but a light bulb has burnt out. I have really not heard of the 18 to be honest.

the 29 is a better choice than the 18 and well worth the extra expense

Best thing to do is browse eBay and Amazon. Cobra and Uniden are good radios. Avoid the cheaper Midland models... they're junk.
