Hello,

Actually, other than a bent up front bumper that I haven't replaced yet, the truck is in pretty good condition.

When I wash her down, sparkle up the wheels and clean the windows, you'd never guess the mileage.

Btw, its a 2006.

Thanks for looking,

Miles judging by this post he made in july 2011,

I replaced the engine at 451,000 miles because I let the timing chain get too bad or the same engine would still be in it. The truck has been driven 2100 miles a week for the last 5.5 years. If you look at some of my older posts, you'll see the progression of miles.

Overall, as long as you are serious about maintaining the vehicle, I believe any vehicle can last you for as long as you wish to use it.

Engine - 451,000 miles - replacement cost $950 with 90,000 miles.
Starter - 465,000 miles - Started truck at least 25 times a day. About $450 to the shop.
Alternator - 425,000 miles - DIY
Radiator - Original
Transmission - 89,000 - GMC paid half to replace since it was just over warranty. $1300 to me.
2nd transmission - still in service at 450,000 miles. Mechanic says cleanest trans he sees.
Left Wheel Hub - 275,000 miles then 350,000 miles $200+/- for part. See below about labor.
Right Wheel Hub - 350,000 miles
Master Cylinder - 525,000 miles - $125 complete for shop repair
Catalytic - Original
Muffler - Original
Water pump - 360,000 miles

I don't know if the newer models have changed in design for replacing the rotors on the front brakes or not, but its the crappiest, most labor intensive design I've owned. You actually have to remove the wheel hubs to fully replace the rotors. Shop (book) rate is about 3.5 hours or so, meaning about $300+ just to REPLACE rotors. If you can handle a 4 out of 5 on the difficulty rating scale for automotive maintenance problems then, no sweat you'll be fine. If not, then be forewarned.

If on the edge about whether or not to buy, pick up a Haynes manual for the model and flip through it to see if the major item repairs are too much for you or not to balance out future maintenance costs.

This $17,000 truck I bought (when brand spankin' new) doesn't owe me a dime. It has performed in 100+ degree heat and also through 27 inches of snow.

I'm so confident in my truck, that I'd jump in it right now (well, after my complete rear brake job later today) and drive it absolutely anywhere without fear of breakdown.

Good Luck either way,
diatribe

Holy Crap! You have over 220K+ miles on the used replacement engine to boot! 2100 miles a week is some serious windshield time.

Pretty high mileage you got there, makes my father's seem like a new truck. Original engine which never had anything other than regular maintenance (engine tune ups, oil changes & I think two ignition coil packs). 2005 Chevrolet Colorado 3.5 L 2wd ex cab z85. Not even the head issues. Engine light is on for a small evap leak & I can't remember why the air bag light is on.
