Red face HUD interst?

I just placed an order for an after market HUD that looks like it will work on almost any vehicle.
Company selling is Exotic Vette

Broken or NO Heads Up Display in your Vette?!

Plugs into OBD2 port

Cost is around 110 after taxes and shipping
here are some of the features
features:

Speedometer

Voltage display

Water temp

Distance travelled on current trip

Bar graph of RPMS as well as numerical display of RPMS

Time display

Fuel consumption

Self dimming with ambient light sensor means no messing with brightness

On/Off with the ignition

Scans computer for Check Engine Light codes as well as allows you to reset them

Allows for adjustable alerts on low voltage, high temp, overspeed

Allows adjustment of wheel/tire size so you can get accurate speed display with any tire size (very nice feature)

Comes with a wireless remote you can mount on your console or dash, or keep in your glove box, to change features and adjustments

I should receive soon and will let you know what I think.

I've been looking for a HUD solution for my truck and my wife's CX-5 for awhile now. I'll I've found are solutions where you just sit your phone on your dash and use an app or are bulky units that have every single diagnostic measure displayed. This one however looks pretty great. Not overly big...supposedly it's curved....and from the pictures it isn't showing too much information (personal preference here). Not sure about that suction cupped screen on the windshield though.

Kind of a shady looking website/vendor from where I'm sitting. But maybe in the corvette community their a trusted seller? Either way, post up pictures and your experience when you get it hooked up please!

Having HUD on the Colorado would be awesome! I was out looking today trying to figure out a possible way to have one that looked factory. My Vette has it and it spoils you VERY quickly. When you are cruising down the road and that "surprise" LEO comes out of nowhere you never have to take your eyes off the road, it's right there on the windshield.
I can't tell for sure by the pics or info but if it has a cable running from the ODBII port up on the dash, that would get on my nerves pretty quick.

Well snit. The HUD will not work on the 05 Colorado. works on the 16 but not the 05.

Is the OBD in the 05 the OBDI??

The 05 is definitely not OBDI. In the US OBDII was mandatory starting in 1996, but CANBUS was not standardized upon until 07 or 08. Some vehicles used it before then and some did not. To be fair, he does specifically state OBDII CANBUS and there are a few details around the production years on the site.

I have had some dealings with that vendor around some interior insulation for my Corvette, and he always responded promptly. I didn't find any bad reviews or dealings on CorvetteForum when I was searching, so I agree that it's mostly that the site is just poorly done.

I purchased one, and the mounting location of it just doesn't work. the dash needs to be sloped more so you can mount the display lower down. and the reflective pad can be lower to see on the windshield. I was able to run the cable from the opening where the collision warning light is down to the OBD connector but it just doesn't sit properly on the dash for it to look proper.

I only wish that the truck had a factory HUD.

I had a factory unit in a C5 Corvette and it was awesome.

I have had two different aftermarket HUD's in three different vehicles. The one I have in my VW right now plugs into the 12v outlet and gets speed from GPS, it works flawlessly.

I had another HUD in a G8 GT that plugged into the OBDII port and it also worked very well.

I will use the GPS HUD I have in my current vehicle in the Canyon-when I get it. It is a must have for me.

Shitty customer service, I emailed them a couple weeks ago through their website and have yet to hear back.

Cool

Ah... my first post! Just purchased my first Colorado on my new best time of the year... December 30'th. The dealer was ready to give some nice discounts! :)

I too have been spoiled by my first HUD in our 2004 Corvette. Since then, I even had one in our Mazda. Now that I have a truck, I am missing it. I am keeping and eye on the after-market for some time. Here are some ideas from crazy expensive... I am keeping my eye out for a projected onto the windshield without the need for any film and that is portable.

I put a HUD in my truck for a while... it was nice but I did not like the screen piece that had to be attached to the windshield to give the right reflectiveness.

I can't put it that close due to the collision warning light.
