Default Camper shell prices

How much should I expect to spend on an A.R.E. camper shell for my extended cab colly? I want the one with the windows. No need for a rubber mat or anything at the moment.

The price is going to depend on the model of A.R.E. cap you get. The cheaper one is around a $1,000 and then they go up in price. The one I have now was $1,500 in 2007. I had the cheaper one on my old trucks and it works just as well, but the new one just looks better and comes with a rugged lining on the inside. It's more stream lined with frameless windows. I have had ARE caps on 4 trucks so far they're great. I never had a problem with any of them.

I believe if (I remember correctly), my ARE cap for my crew cab was $1300.

I've been pleased with the cap; no complaints.

Nice! I'm waiting on a nice little check to come in for some hotel reimbursement and such.... So I think that may be my purchase. Thought about putting it into my house, but that's just not as fun! lol.

Nice. Also, check out the ARE website. And I have said this before, but get a tailgate protector or the door on the cap will rub your paint off your tailgate. I get one from jc whitney for around $25.00 They have a custom one that fits nice.I think the GM one is too fat and might interfere with the cap's door. Good luck.

Been lurking here for awhile but this is my first post...I'm trying to sell my A.R.E. mpulse white shell that's on my 04 Colorado crew cab for $800...I guess it would only work if you could pick it up...if you were interested of course ;)

That's a good cap.( It's the one I had on my last colorado) try posting it in the- for sale section. You'll have a better chance of more people seeing it. Good luck. I bought that cap new in 2004 for $1,000. That was painted to match my truck. I don't know what it cost today, I'm sure it's more. But someone buying yours might have to get it painted too.

Is there anyway you can find out how old these things are? I bought my colly about a year ago and it already had the topper on it. For some reason (no idea why) i thought it was put on recently.

I don't know how to tell how old the cap is but if it is color matched to the truck it probably isn't older than the truck. The ARE models don't change that much but you can ask a cap dealer or the old owner. If it has a cap dealers tag on it, go talk to them. It's too bad you didn't get the receipt for it. The old owner could have had the truck a couple years and then bought the cap.

Dude at the dealership told me it was a government grocery getter until I bought it (don't know how true that is but it was maintained very well). Just trying to find a price point that's not completely ridiculous.
