Default toughest Brush guards that withstand deer

Hello everyone. I need your input. I have a 2007 Chevy Colorado LS 2.9 2WD. Two days ago I hit my 3rd or 4th deer. Every time all the plastic up front gets ruined including the lights. I have read many forums about brush/grill guards but most people talk about how they look on thier truck. I want something that looks good but need something that protects the whole front of my truck more. Does anybody make a TOUGH brush/grill guard?

This is the first time i have started a thread. I hope I did it right.

Thanks for your time in advance!!!

Check out Suspension Maxx, he makes some too.

If you can't find any while you're shopping, don't use "brush guard" as your search. Most likely that will return the pretty ones that are not functional at protecting your truck from anything but the occasional brush that smacks it if you're off road.

I hit a small deer at 65 with only my Westin bull bar to protect the front end. The deer's head hit the bar and the body wiped out all the plastic under the bumper. Protected the grill and radiator. $120 later it looks like new. The truck, that is. The deer was split in two.

The cheaper guards will stop a deer as well (within reason 100mph it isn't going to matter) i hit a deer with a cheap-o $100 guard on my silverado at about 50 and didn't do a cent worth of damage to the truck.

The aries or hunter guards are cheap but i have no dought it will stop a deer.

Nothing against the more expensive guards i am sure they are great but i know i couldn't justify the extra cost even having to repaint my guard after 4 yrs i can't complain.

Something tells me you got REALLY lucky. Cheap parts have cheap hardware and welds and are not even designed to hold up to certain loads. A lot of it will also depend on how squarely the impact is.

I wish ARB would get over their boner with imports, and start producing for the rest of the small truck world.

umm, i just hit one back in april at 70 and it damaged from the front driver headlights all around to the passenger door, hood, bumper. had a big country brand guard.
if i was you, i'd go with ranch hand if you want more protection. they are heavier built and much stronger.

i have their BullMaxx on my truck. havent hit any deer, but i'd trust the BMaxx over a Westin bar... (just go look at the mounting bracket of a Westin bullbar...)
