Default Aftermarket headlights

For a couple months I've been having issues with my aftermarket headlights, long story short there is a short somewhere in the wiring. I took it into a chevy dealership to have it looked at, and they said that it was the wiring harness, and that I needed a new one. It's supposed to be all done today, when I get a call from the guy saying that the issue is the fact that the headlights are aftermarket at all, and he doesn't feel comfortable putting the headlights back in, he wants the stock ones on. He questioned the value of the lights, and saying that they are fire hazards and probably going to break in a couple of months. I have had these headlights on for 2 years with no problems, and now just a headlight is out. I've seen a ton of collys run these lights (I provided a link to them) and have never had an issue. My question is basically, am I just ignorant, or is there a real problem with them?

The stealership is always going to give you a hard time about aftermarket stuff. I had a problem with my tire pressure sensors one time and they tried to blame it on my aftermarket stereo. I can't say they may not cause a problem but I am guessing they are blowing everything way out a proportion.

I can't say just by reading if your lights are damaged or not. Two years is a long time to go without any problems and should'nt be a surprise the light went out. I say get it back from the dealership and inspect/repair it yourself. Post a few pictures so we can all put our heads together and figure it out. Hopefully someone with a similar problem can post their experience.

Welp, All's well that ends well. I took Lalanza's advice and went back to work on it when I got it back from the dealer, put the aftermarket lights back on with the new wire harness and there was still a short. Turns out the terminals on one of the lights were worn to ****, so i spliced on new ones and it has been working perfectly ever since. Have to say the dealership was as unprofessional as it gets though. Not only did they put the wrong size fuse in to replace the headlamp fuse that was blown out (15A in a 10A slot) but they also tore up the black plasti-dip I had on my bumper. Additionally they didn't put the grill back on, saying that they couldn't do it without taking off the aftermarket lights. these are all more mild inconveniences than anything else, but I mean...come on, seriously?

Anyway, I have a new project as a result of the wire harness. I put on fog lights according to the "Put on foglights that look stock" thread and wired them in via my old harness. The dealership must have thought they really were stock, because the harness they gave me has plugs for fog lights! Additionally, for some reason I've always had a fog light relay and fuse, despite the fact that my colly never came with them. After getting new bulbs that match the sockets on the harness all I have to do now is get a switch to hook up and should be in business with a better set-up than I started with!
