I have the bigger fender flares on my truck and mounted my antenna on the front left flare. only draw back is there is no good ground so eather you need a NGP (no ground plane) mount, or run a wire from the mounting bolts on the inside of the flare to a ground on the truck frame.

I mounted mine in the rear bumper... but you'll need a longer whip. Mines a 5' and i also use a 7' when i need a little more distance.

Look on eBay there are lots of mounting brackets available. Maybe you can find one that will work. Or make your own.

I saw one setup where a guy punched a hole In his soft cover for his whip, LOL.

I ALMOST thought about that but then was like wait.. that wont work lol. my cover is plastic im almost thinking about removing it. the only thing keeping it on is the idea that it saves mpg. i like the look of the wire being hidden. so its either mount the antenna to the bumper, or remove that ridiculous tonneau cover and mount it simply there.

Mine's not in back of the cab, but it's good for 5 miles line-of-sight communication.

Oh, thatīs new, you mounted your antenna in the front fender flare, is that stiff enough? I mean the fender flare is plastic...

Not cb but if you look just above the gas cap you will see the base. All it is is a flat piece of metal bent 90 degrees and clamped in place by the tonneau cover. I do have it bolted inside the bed to provide better grounding. The cable drops between the cab and bed and enters the cab through the rubber air vent and then to the radio..

I have had the antenna mounted there for about 2 years now and there is ,so far, no signs of torqing, streatching or splitting. but yes, I didn't think it would hold for vary long because it is plastic.
