I have never run my truck at firebird, I have run there before, but not my truck. I think that they are a little more by the book at firebird. I think that speedworld lets little things by as long as it is not a big safty issue. That could be why some times you have to wait such a long time to make a run when there is a leak or some thing on the track. We should plan a track day!

I'm just waitin' for this scorcher weather to abate here in Texas. Houston Raceway Park is where I'll be headin', as soon as temps drop into the 60's!

well, took my truck to the track tonight. New england dragways in New hampshire. it was nice, about 61* and clear skys. took the air pressure down to about 30psi, had about 3/4 tank of gas.
i've got an xcab zq8 i5 auto
Volant intake, Dynomax muffler, Efan, Trans cooler, Jet servo, HPtuners, Caltracs traction bars.

ran twice, with a best of 15.921 @ 85.13 (15.993 @ 85.95 1st run). it was my first time to the track ever, so i had some bad reaction times (.771 1st and .970 2nd).

i was really hoping for a 15.5 or better, but im glad that at the least i was in the 15's. i need some more power though, i would really like to be faster. i think had i done a 2k rpm launch i would have done better. the second run i did from "3" then shifted to "d" i was going to try the 2k launch but didnt have time (i was kinda rushed because i was the last race of the night and they wanted to get out of there)

HP Tuned: Black Zq8 xcab i5 auto. volant. dynomax ultra flo. trans cooler. flex-a-lite. Caltracs. TB spacer. Jet Servo

I had tryed to do the whole launch at a higher rpm thing and it did not help at all. Try it with your truck and see if it helps you at all.

The last time I went I ran a 15.4 as my best. That's with a reg cab, stick with 3.42's
HP Tuner's
AEM intake
magnaflow muffler
traction bars

I Just installed a nitrous kit and 4.10's are on the way so hopefully I can get to the track in the next few weeks.

nice man, with the 4.10, some good tires and a hard launch you should be seeing some low 15's maybe even break 14's then throw the n2o and you'll be getting some nice numbers for sure.

what kit did you order?

not to be an ass but why race these trucks? They were not made to run.. Without FI u wont break 13's..and if ur not 12's and under i dont see it as fast. but hey thats me. I just dont see why u abuse the truck unless ur actually puttin down 300+ hp

The way I see it (even though I have not raced the pickup, and probably wont), it is just a personal choice to some (I cant speak for everyone, so other will have a different opinion or reason).

First: 06 Onyx Black GMC Canyon Ex-cab, Bent body panels modification, and Broken off suspension modification.
Second: 06 S.B.M. GMC Canyon Ex-cab, 4L60E, SLE-2, GT4 (dead stock).
Do you drag race your GMT-355? If so, click here!!!

i understand just ranting a lil.. im sorry... Just coming from drag racing into the truck community i always hated guys that wasted our track time by running 15+ sec times.

If you ran 13's and below most didnt mind. But 15's whats the point. Like i said im coming from the drag racing into the truck community and just cant figure why u would even put the abuse on a new truck that u know is mid 15secs

For some, who haven't had the opportunity to drag race - this is a fairly safe way to get a feel for what it's all about! It also gives those an opportunity to set baseline times, in order to effectively determine if their modifications have made a difference in performance.

We've all got to start somewhere. We can't all start out with 12 second cars. It's about going out and having fun, enjoying hanging out with other car people and checking out their cars. I've never had anyone complain to me at the track, usually they come up and ask what I've got done because they're surprised a stock truck can pull mid 15's.

It's not "your" track time anyway. I paid my money to get in the same as you did, and I'm just as entitled to run.

If you can't afford to do it right, then how can you afford to do it twice?

My truck is not new. I have 96000 miles on it and it runs low 15s. I do not race it all the time, but you know why not have some fun once in a while.

Well, from my experiences there have been more quick cars at the track break down on the starting line or mid track and waste everyones time due to the cleanup. I have only seen one slow vehicle cause a delay, and that was some lifted diesel that spilled seed corn all over the damn track. If there were only quick cars out at the track on the nights they let the public run then there probably wouldn't be enough cars at all some nights and they'd just shut it down early. There have been plenty of nights like that around here. On some nights I could put in 20 passes if I wanted, but I usually limit it to just 4-5 because there's no sense in beating on my truck by making runs back to back.

You know who annoys me, the dudes who have the peice of shit stripped down cars running 12.9s but think they are the only people on the planet.

Ok, that was just to show how different people can be, and to respect everyone individually.

Currently: 2005 Dodge Ram

Future: 2006-7 Chevy Colorado

Hmmm....we could start a few categories here! The 17-second club, the 16-second club, the 15-second club, and the 14-second club. They do it over at the Subaru XTI forum!
