Default quiet muffler

i tried searching but there aren't many people looking for quiet mufflers. my 06 xtreme came with a flowmaster (not sure what series) mated to the stock pipes from the previous owner. it sounds like absolute garbage, in my opinion. it's buzzy and drones like crazy on the highway.

so i want to replace it and retain the stock exhaust pipes. who is running an aftermarket muffler that has better flow than stock but is relatively quiet? trying to see what my options are so i can order something and get this swapped out soon.

thanks

I have recently put a magnaflow universal muffler on my 05 3.5L and it sounds pretty good. I had it straight piped before and the drone was starting to give me headaches. The magnaflow has a nice deep pitch but isnt too loud either. I paid $70+tax for it.

Yeah i would go with a Magnaflow or MBRP muffler with stock tail pipe. My MBRP is pretty quiet in the cab with the exhaust exiting in the stock location.

Back when I had my 2004 with the 3.5 5 banger I went with walker quietflow and really like it. Better flow than stock but not loud like just about all aftermarket mufflers.

i think that i'm going with magnaflow. i just finished some projects around the house so i should finally have time to get in on in the next few weeks. i'm thinking about swapping the flowmasters on my grand national to magnaflow too. flowmasters used to be "it" back in the day but there are so many better choices now.

thanks for the input.

well i ended up going with a dynomax turbo muffler, part #17749. it is 100x better than the flowmaster. the truck seems to run better and it sounds so much better. and since my exhaust pipes were already cut from the flowmaster it was basically a direct bolt in, just needed 2 clamps.
