AEM Unleashes the Inline 5

As a proud owner of my 2004 Colorado I was faced with a problem, no aftermarket. Well AEM has started a new revolution and has taken the market by storm and has come out with its Brute Force Intake. I have had nothing but praises for this intake. AEM has done a top notch job on this intake, I can only imagine how high quality the rest of there products are. My intake arrived via FedEx and was safely packed, and I was happy with all the extra goodies.

This system included the intake pipe, heat shield, filter, all necessary hoses, clamps and fittings, along with hardware and great picture instructions. The extras that are included are filter cleaning kit, license plate bracket and 2 AEM decals.

The Install:

The instructions were very forward and very easy to understand. You will need basic tools, a socket set, a nut driver flat head screw driver, and I found that deep well sockets and some extensions help with the overall install. I am not the most savvy car person, and yet I didn’t have any problems at all installing it. I will give u a brief run-through of the install.

The stock air system leaves a lot to be desired and is very restrictive, so just follow the instructions and yank her out this includes disassembling the air box by removing one nut, and 2 bolts. Disconnect the MAF sensor and remove the intake tubing. You will then need to remove the air intake resonator (the big black thing that says vortec) there are 2 bolts that need to be removed and the ventilation hose will have to be popped off.

Once this is all removed u can say wow nice motor, and then proceed with the Brute force intake install u will need to install the new heat shield but remember don’t tighten anything till your all done install the intake onto the throttle body and follow the directions. It will basically go back together very fast make sure u take your time and the finished product will be spectacular.

Overall opinion:

This intake after install was more than I ever would have imagined it has the power I was missing and it really love the new sound and power band. Plus it looks great and have had endless comments. I would definately recommend this intake if you are researching or interested in buying. If you have any questions about my experience please feel free to email me at koolz71@verizon.net
THANKS AEM

Nate, you've got a pretty good sales pitch there.

Accually AEM's intake got the biggest power increase over all the intakes available for the I-5. It was 19.5HP and 20 ft lbs at 5500 rpm it wakes that motor up for sure.

I love my AEM intake, the look, performance and sound delivers. Easy install too, although I had the same problem with 1 of the hose clamps being too small. My only wish is for a 1 piece rubber molding for the top of the divider housing, it looks a little cheap with 3 cut pieces.

I just installed one of the the new AEM Brute Force air intakes on my I5 this past weekend. The install was pretty painless - had to play with the bracket a little, and I had to replace the two smaller hose clamps on the hose going to the manifold with the next size up (the ones suppled were just a little too small) - other than that it was really an easy install. It is very quiet in the cab at low rpm's, and it screams once you get on it. It DEFINATELY made a noticeable difference in performance, and the engine seems to accelerate smoother as well. In my opinion it was well worth the investment.

Will it fit the I4 and give the 4 banger the same hp/tq increase?

Also I need a better flowing muffler but want to keep it quiet.Anybody know of a good muffler that will free up some ponies yet stay fairly quiet?

Thanks

No, there is a different set up for the I-4 specifically.

You should seach throughout this specific forum for exhausts and such, or start a new thread about it since it's a different topic than an intake.
