I'm purchasing a new HU for my 2004 GMC Canyona and I was told I need that intergration adapter so I wouldn't lose the Door chimes and safety warning.
I was wondering if it actually worth getting or is it more of a waste? |

I got it with my purchase and was glad I did...You can make your own choice..It keeps the install closer to the OEM....IMO

Do a search on the forums. There is a write up on how to not use it. There are products to stay away from. But yes, you will lose your chimes unless you buy the part.
You can find answers that you need if you search the forums, it's a fairly common topic. |

Save your money and do the RAP mod. From what i've seen (and heard) the aftermarket chime box sounds like garbage, you will end up wrapping it in an old sock after a while, just to tone down the ear wrenching squack it screams out at you.

^^ i recently did a new radio with the wiring harness ... i really don't notice the chime at all ( i did the cut the directions and people said to lower the volume) Its only like 3 short dings when the truck starts and thats all.
To me, after just a couple weeks its like the old chime, i barely even notice it's there |

Yeah I suppose a guy could get used to anything, however every time I'd hear that fake chime all I would be able to think about is how I'm out a $130

You can get it on alot of sites for about 60 $ ... all depends on personal preference i suppose but i understand not wanting to spend money on something if theres a way to avoid it, especially for something as minor as chimes
