I've searched and found a ton of these threads, but none of which really answer one question.
While searching I found this: The iSimple GateWay - Advanced Car Integration Kit for the iPod and iPhone It allows for full ipod control/charging/ect. Now, my truck has XM and OnStar. If i install this unit, will i still be able to use the XM radio, or are there any kits out there that allow the use of XM radio along with an ipod? Sorry, I'm completely new to XM radio conversions and things like that |

Since the factory radio/phone/etc setup differs from model year to model year, the easiest answer is to go to Crutchfield: Car Stereo, Speakers, Home Theater, LCD TV, Digital Cameras
They have some decent prices, good support and give you a range of what's available.

I totally forgot about crutchfield. It's been so long since I've bought audio equipment.
*edit* just live chatted with someone from crutchfield and they dont have anything that allows you to retain stock XM radio. Wonderful. The search continues! Last edited by shooter5635; 05-31-2012 at 10:47 PM. |

I've got the iSimple ISGM575. I believe it supports the Sat/Onstar system.

I have the USASpec unit. this does allow you to retain XM and onStar. It works but can be erratic. I sent mine back to USASpec twice before finally settling for the current version I have. I forget what model I finally ended up with. It works but occasionally you get an "XM Error" message displayed on your radio and your iPod stops working. You then have to cycle power to the radio to get it working again. It's also supposed to shut off your iPod automatically after you shut off your radio. Sometimes it does, and sometimes you'll come back to your truck to find your iPod battery drained.

I've got the Gateway on mine and the "On Star" works as normal, but it negates the "XM".

Thanks for the input guys. Not sure if i posted this already, but i talked to crutchfield and they don't have anything that allows you to keep XM. The iSimple looks like the best and easiest set up, but it's almost $200...a rather hefty price for an ipod hookup in my opinion.
