I have a 2012 colorado LT1 with the XM radio delete off the build sheet. It has the AM/FM CD radio part # 25998449. The truck has onstar and bluetooth. Can I switch radios with one that has the XM feature? Is the xm antenna in the wire harness? Do I need to do anything else except change radio units? Will a 2010 and 2011 XM radio work with the onstar and bluetooth?/ I want to put a factory radio back in only withthe XM feature...

You should be able to switch fine to a aftermarket Xm radio (most require a separate XM module) as long as you use a GMOS1, this will retain the onstar, chime and bluetooth features which are built in separate from in factory radio in your truck.
I'd still like to figure out a more simple way of tying in my andriod cell phone for Pandora internet music into the factory radio. I'm pretty sure there are apps to make the music go through bluetooth, there must be. This would be even more simple than connecting in with 3.5mm wire which I still can't believe they did not provide a jack for on the radio, most cars have those these days.

If you change the radio out for any OEM unit it would require a dealer reset for the new radio to work...The new unit would be locked out until the dealer replaced the VIN # in the stereo...I don't think the antenna is part of the harness...Good luck with your upgrade !!

Tweek can you explain what do you mean by resetting the radio? Because I installed a new radio.
One of the things I don't like about it is that the Onstar isn't hooked up to it. So when I need to make a call or someone calls me it turns off the radio. And for whatever reason the volume doesn't adjust so now it's just super loud. I was wondering what I could do to change that. My new radio is a avh p3400bh. Check my pics out to see it! |

The two things you describe are both "features" of the GMOS-01 OnStar adapter that you install with an aftermarket head unit. It allows you to keep your chimes, OnStar, and Bluetooth (if the truck comes with it), but it causes both of these behaviors. When you use OnStar or Bluetooth, it turns off the radio. And, the OnStar and Bluetooth volume levels are not controlled by the head unit volume knob. There is a volume adjustment, but it's a pain. When you touch the volume wire that comes out of the GMOS-01 (I think it's brown, but I'm not sure) to a ground, it steps the volume down from loud to medium to soft and back to loud, one step for each time the wire touches ground. This is my least favorite part of the GMOS-01, but it doesn't mean something is wrong. That's just how it's designed.
