Default Remote Locks Causes Horn to Beep 3 Times?

For the last couple days every time I press Lock or Unlock, the horn sounds three times. The manual says if one of your doors is open the alarm may sound several times to let you know the security system is not armed. I have checked all the doors and they are definitly shut. When I first got the truck I changed it to the RFM that makes the horn beep once only when you lock the doors. It has workded fine until just recently.

Any ideas?

If it keeps doing it, try disconnecting the battery, leaving it unhooked for about 15 minutes, this will reset the computers, may or may not help, there's one thing that's true, these trucks are wierd !@!

I noticed that it started immediately after I locked the doors from the inside with the lock/unlock button, then closed the door. According to the manual this does not set the alarm. Then when I hit the unlock button on the remote when I came back to my truck, it started beeping the horn 3 times, and has not stopped. I will give the battery diconnect a try....can't wait to reset the clock and radio stations....

If you're going to use the remote to unlock it, you need to use it to lock it. You're causing it to think too much.

Ya, GM cars don't like to think.

The remote on my Sunfire died (battery), and I haven't replaced it yet. Sometimes it would work for locking it, but not unlocking. Then using the KEY to unlock the door, the alarm would go off. Had to start the car to stop the alarm. Which reminds me, I need to replace that battery.

I have explained that to the wife many times, but it has not sunk in yet.

Ahhh, the dreaded "3 beeps" disease. Mine had it. Do a search for "3 beeps" and you'll find more info. My BCM had to be replaced to get rid of the ailment.
