Default How much tow?

I have a series of questions...
Can i tow this blazer 260miles??? Would you tow this blazer with your colorado 260 miles...

2005 Colorado crew cab i dont know what motor it has but when I open the hood it says 3500 vortec... which i assume is the 3.5L and i dont know what axel which shows a difference in weight tow capacity load...in the manual..

i read the manual and now I have more questions than answers..would you tow it in another gear D 3 2 1??? and which one?? not alot of hills..

Thats a nice looking K-blazer!!

Always liked them :)

The towing capacity of your Colorado (legally) is 4000#. If the K-Blazer and trailer/dolly weigh more than that, then legally you shouldn't tow it. I'd probably do it anyway, we've seen that these trucks can tow well over what they're rated, just be sure to leave yourself plenty of room for braking.

Your gear ratio won't effect how much you can tow.

Whenever you're towing anything, you shouldn't use overdrive, so in the case of the Colorado, you should tow in 3.

I would tow the coly with the blazer. You won't even feel it back there. My two cents....

Yeah, but even if the K-Blazer is in great shape (which it certainly looks to be), you still really don't want to drive it 260 miles. Colorado would be much more comfortable, even though it isn't necessarily better suited to towing it.

I tow 4900-5500lbs 5-6x a year when going to the race track. The truck really benefits from a 7-pin wire so you can run a brake controller which I do. I also have an equalizer hitch and airbags. The airbags are overkill, but the hitch and brake controller are necessary.

Now if you're just going to go slow and take it where it needs to go then you can tow as-is, but I wanted safety and security. I can tow at 70 w/o issue. I always tow in 3rd. Oh and I also installed a B&M air/liquid aux. trans cooler in the factory cooler's return line.

Im thinking by everyone's response that it shouldn't be a problem. The manual does say for anything that is hitched to your truck has its own braking system. It says that riding the break too much can make them fail or loose its breaking power.. but in my case im just going through the outside of every town for less breaking.thanks for the advice

(3mpg is an exaggeration btw...can't remember what exactly i got but it was in the low teens)

tow the blazer...no problem

I measured 12.9 MPG towing my Panoz on my trailer w/ the bed and by toolbox and cab fully loaded. Most of the trip my CC was set at 70 towing in 3rd.
