Default 4WD NOT WORKING

4wd isn't working,I don't have any lights lit up and it's in 2wd,I'm thinking the problem is the module that tells the motor to change to and fro,but I thought I'd check to see what you guys thought first.thanks guys

That could be the problem. Have you put a meter on it to see if it's getting juice? If not, or you haven't checked it yet, check your fuses. That's the quickest to rule out.

Often its the simple things that work....

I know that whenever I have difficulty activating or deactivating 4wd I find I am not doing it correctly due to it not being an often enough occurrence for me. Hate to suggest it but perhaps your missing something too?

are you switching into 4lo or 4hi?

how long have you not been able to switch from one to the other?

i had this problem when i was about to go mudding once, when i gave up on pushing the buttons i backed out of the entrance to the field. for shits and giggles i tryed to engage 4lo in N while rolling and it worked. Im thinking that when i put it in reverse it fixed the problem.

also 4hi wont engage unless you are rolling, from my experience.

hope this helps

I can't switch into anything cause the lights that tell you what gears the transfer case is in are not lit. When it went out about two weeks ago I was switching from two whl to four whl hi,and the light was blinking for a while ,then it just went out ,but when you turn on the ing.switch they all come on like they should then they all go out and it is in two whl drive. Still think its the module but I won't be able to get one til after X-mas,so til then I'm gonna try to check it w/ a meter to make sure,or go to the chevy garage and see what info I can get from them .

look under your truck at the front transfer case and see if the little electronic plastic thing that engages 4wd is connected properly. I had a problem that wouldnt let me switch gears and quickly found out that that part was busted.
